If it was possible, I would give this book a million stars. I never thought that I'd love a book so so much, and feel so connected to it in some way.
It is honestly one of my favourites!! After reading the books from "Love me with lies" series, I really never thought that I'll find a part of myself in another book. But in this one I have and it was worth every minute of reading.
Tarryn Fisher, you did it again!!! :)

Wow. Not sure I have the words to describe how I feel after listening to this one (I did the audiobook version).
First of all, this was my first book by this author. I NEED more of her books! That's for sure. This book pretty much grabbed me right from the beginning. I was never sure where exactly things were going to go. It was definitely one hell of a ride! I wouldn't exactly say this was a romance book no matter how it's categorized.
Second, once I got into the story, this one was hard to put down and I ended up staying up way too late since I needed to know the rest of the story. That's a good sign for me and this author.
Other than that, I can't think of how to say anything without giving anything away. This was really unlike anything else I've ever read.

I was not ready for the floodgate of emotions I was left with at the end of this book. Came out of nowhere.
I gave it a four star upon the last sentence of Mud Vein. Then my husband asked me if I liked and I realized I did not have an answer. I was not sure if I loved it or hated it or liked it just fine. I loved the writing and the dark tones of Mud Vein. However I had problems with the revelation. I so wished for the kidnapping to be either a hallucination or a simulation, a la Shutter Island and the White Christmas episode of Black Mirror.
Still, it will make me read other Tarryn Fisher books.

Read this on a plane this weekend. After reading Marrow and deeming it the most effed up book I've ever read... I kinda... HAD TO. This one is still DARK AF. But... actually... somehow...less dark/twisted than Marrow? It's one of those where if I tried to tell you "then this happens, that that happens, then we learn XYZ, and turns out ABC..." it would sound ridiculous and like "well, that's an awful story." But I was SO SUCKED IN. And SO CURIOUS what happened and how Senna & Issac knew each other and what happened that brought them there and what would happen to them and WHO WAS THE KIDNAPPER!? I had like a dozen theories. And I was convinced I'd get to the end and be able to say "I CALLED IT!" just by playing the odds... turns out. I was wrong. Which kinda made me love it anymore? So, if you're in the mood to read about some damaged AF emotional messes of people trying to survive, def recommend. But as a heads up in advance, it's extreme.
And, IMO... I would consider it a happy ending. I have a feeling many may not.

Famous but reclusive writer Senna Richards wakes up one day on a strange bed inside an unknown cabin, at an unknown place in the dead of winter. She has no idea how she got there, and no idea who has taken her captive.
The closet is filled with new clothes in her size. The sheets on the bed are clean and luxurious. The house is stocked with piles and piles of wood for fire, and the pantry is stuffed with food and supplies to last for months.
In another room she discovers that she is not alone. Lying there bound and gagged is Isaac Asterholder, the surgeon who saved her in the past from her own chaos, vulnerability and destruction.
There is a reason why they have both been abducted. Senna and Isaac fight a daily battle to survive the harsh conditions and each other. They try to make sense of the sick situation before their minds and bodies finally give out. The end is surprising and not at all pretty.
Not sure whether to give this book one star or two. It's not a happy book. It's dark, distressing and disturbing. To be fair, it's well-written with well-paced storytelling, and the right amount of suspense. However, it has such a contrived plot. The main characters are too broken or too destructive that reading about them felt laborious and frustrating. I appreciate a character with enough flaws and personal drama, but not too much. Not THAT much.

I have been sitting here just staring off because I feel kind of broke after that. Itโs not a book as youโre reading it that itโs going to make you cry, but you know what, I bawled like a baby at the end.
I canโt even fully for a thought to be able to write this. This is such a unique story and couldnโt even categorize it in a genre. It reads more thriller but once I got to the end, the romance became evident. This is one that will stay with me forever. Just read it, I promise itโs worth it.
I hated the main character and the culprit and the ending.
