Amazing book. I love to read but never can come up with any words of my own to leave a review, especially books as good as this. So great.
Rating: 3.5 stars
Where do I possibly start with this book? I'm definitely in the minority when I say I didn't love this book. That might garner a few people to throw stones at me but hey, I'm a risk taker like that. Mud Vein has Tarryn Fisher written all over it and that's what makes this story somewhat unique, even if it didn't blow me away. It's really rather simple, I don't love every book I read even if I think the author is a talented writer, so with that being said, let me explain what I loved and didn't care for...
The first 40% of the book was a real snooze and I almost didn't finish it. *gasp* I know, I know...the author was setting us up for the twisted plot, she was laying the foundation, blah, blah, blah but I still think it was a snooze. I was bored and felt like I had read this story before.
Senna and Isaac are reminiscent of Olivia and Caleb (Love Me with Lies series). Senna is beyond broken and for very good reason which is depicted beautifully and yet so tragic but I felt I already knew her. And as beautiful and perfect as Isaac was, I had already met him and fell in love with him in The Opportunist. I know what you are thinking, I shouldn't be comparing books but as always, I throw caution to the wind.
What worked was the element of mystery but this didn't pique my interest until the back story of both characters was explained and once I knew their history, I wanted more and couldn't put the book down.
There's an intense feeling of melancholy throughout the entire story and a brief moment of self-love because Senna is truly a tragic character, it was as though she was wrapped tightly in barbed wired and her journey left me exhausted and quite sad. And as forCaleb Isaac, his life becomes absolutely cataclysmic.
I love dark and tragic stories but there was something about this particular book that didn't do anything for me. I was lost simply because the beginning didn't grip me, the story became too cryptic, the ending didn't shock me and yet, it left me empty. I can never get those hours back that I spent on this book.
“Nick was wrong about me. Having a mud vein didn’t kill me; it saved me. My vein drew Isaac. He was the light and he followed me into the darkness. He became the darkness, then he carried my burdens so I wouldn’t have to.”
I didn't love it, I didn't hate it and for the record, the writing is fantastic. So, if you enjoy depressing psychological thrillers you might want to give this one a try. ;)

This is my second book by Fisher. I enjoyed Marrow and so looked forward to trying something else out by her, but didn't appreciate this one as much. It's a Whodunit, of a sort. Our main character and her friend/doctor are kidnapped and locked in a strange house with strange furnishings in the middle of nowhere. The book progresses, in a way, as one would expect: they try to escape, to figure out why they're there, to survive. In the end, they learn a great deal about themselves and one another and their relationship is forever changed, as to be expected. It sounds formulaic and I suppose the basic plot is. I didn't love it. I finished it to find out who locked them in the house together, but that's really the only reason. I didn't find myself with strong feelings about either of the characters. I'll continue to read work by Fisher, this just wasn't my favourite.
This is a 10 star read. I was gripped from the first chapter on. I have never read anything quite like this. I wouldn't even know what category to place this story in, psychological thriller? Epic mind expletive?
Senna is a broken woman, who has suffered way more than any woman should have too. Isaac is the compassionate knight in shining armor who can save her, if only she would let him in.
Tarryn Fisher pens a web of betrayal, heartbreak, tragedy, and mental illness. I was anxious to learn who was pulling the strings, and was surprised by the reveal.
Unfortunately I can’t get more in depth with my review, as to not spoil it for other readers. I can say if you are a fan of twisted, dark books that make you really think, than this is for you.

Heart wrenching and a must read
The darker sides of life, the unexplainable tragedies, the epic love stories that transcend mere happily ever after. This book needs to be felt on every level, using every emotion a human can muster. I will be contemplating all of the ripples in this book for years to come, probably the rest of my life. It sounds trite, but this book truly changed me.

Feci kanka bu kitappp. Ne küfürler etsem.

Tarryn normal değil ama. Kadının kafasında yaşamak istemezdim. Colleen ile çektiği videoda ne kadar da normal görünüyor halbuki.

Omg so intense I can not fathom my thoughts into a full review right now because there is so much. But let me say; not what i thought it would be at all! There was so much emotion and it just keeps coming at you the whole book. And it was just was so beautifully written and so poetic in some places. 4.70 stars
5+++ truly out off this world stars. Simply put, I have to say that I thought it was brilliant!
My thoughts as I finished the story ...(as posted in my BR comments)
~Tears-->not bursting blubbering tears, but the slow ones that flow and you suddenly realize you are crying and you can't stop.
In the end, that's what this story got from me.
Definitely a 5 star read. The writing, the storyline, the description of love and soul-mates. It was veeerrry cleverrrrr. Oh, and fucking heartbreaking. Let the book hangover begin.~
The writing is truly phenomenal. If I posted all the highlights I made, it would cover a few pages of Review space.I will likely go back and add some more...I'm flabbergasted at how this made me feel and how much I came to admire Senna ( & Isaac)
I highly recommend to all but be ready to have your mind messed with. The story just goes where you don't expect it to go, especially based on the synopsis. Read this and let this be what it is, what the author gave us here is a gift. This book changed something in me, and that my friends doesn't happen based on some pretty words strung together on a page...that's because of all the thought and heart soul in this amazing story. I feel like I could sleep for days but I can't stop looking back at all the wisdom imparted here ~

I felt so many emotions that I could'nt even process it all!!! Sympanthy, confussion, love, pain, loss, longing.....It was by far one of my favorite books by Tarryn Fisher. It did not end the way I wanted it to but it did end the way that it had to.
I will be re-reading this so that I can take a picture of "Mud Vein" face, which will quite possibly be devastatingly hideous. This is a must read!
