This was missing the spark that her other books have
I’m going to try to be as constructive as I can be about this book, but nothing worked for me. It just wasn’t for me, which is unfortunate because I love all of Cora’s other books. When it comes to mafia romance she’s in a league of her own. I thought this was off to a good start, but then page after page became smothered with Sofia’s insecurity. Seriously, it was like on every single page. It got to the point where it was nauseating to me because it was making Sofia seem annoying because she kept bringing it up, which was unfortunate because I liked her in the beginning chapters. It was kind of hard to keep up with her because she consistently kept changing her mind. Sofia’s insecurity completely dominated the story to the point where it didn’t even feel like there was any romance for me. I wasn’t able to connect with her and Danilo as a couple as a result. For as much as Sofia kept talking about her insecurity, I felt that she got over it rather abruptly, which also soured the story for me. The ending also felt really rushed. I wish there was more development of their relationship and just romance overall. The problem that Sofia and Danilo faced wasn’t really a problem at all, Sofia just invented it in her mind, even after being reassured. So for me, the story fell flat because I felt that there wasn’t a true conflict here.

In the last two years, surprisingly, I found out that mafia romances formed a big chunk of my reading choices. I like them for their alpha Hs, often possessive and a little bit (or very

Primera mitad de la historia???? Asqueroso
Segunda mitad de la historia??? Necesito un marido como Danilo
Poco más voy a decir a parte de: Cora, dame el libro de Emma y Samuel, primer aviso.

Cora Reilly is an author who I will read anything by, but for some reason I didn't love this as much. Maybe it is the writing style? Maybe it is The MMC? No idea. This didn't hit like the rest do but honestly, I love this universe so who cares.
