A sweet and enjoyable story about love and life that centers around a bookshop in a small English village. At first glance it feels like an overload of characters, but as their stories twine together you find yourself rooting for each one to find happiness with their special someone.

I didn't know what to expect from this book. I picked it up on a whim after being sold by the title alone. It was such a sweet read that reminded me a lot of Love, Actually and You've Got Mail. The setting is in the English Countryside too which gives it all the cottagecore vibes. You don't get to spend a ton of time with each of the couples and some don't even have many scenes together until the end, but I still love how it wrapped up and overall just loved my time reading this cozy book.

It’s a question of whether you want to live, breathe, sleep, and eat books for the foreseeable future.” “It’s how I was brought up.” “Yes, but you won’t be able to float around plucking novels from the shelf and curling up in a corner.” Andrea laughed. “Every time I went in, your father had his nose in a book, away with the fairies. That’s not going to work. You’re running a business. And that means being businesslike.”

Yay! Andrea tells it like it is. Thank goodness, Emilia, who inherited the bookshop from her beloved father took her advice very seriously and understood she had to run the shop like a business that had to get out of debt and make a profit and not like it was a lifestyle.

While Emilia is attempting to keep her bookshop in business both because she loves it and as a tribute to her father, we meet 6 couples who find each other or re-find each other because of it. Hence the title. Emilia also has a romance of her own, and we learn about her father and her dead mother's story. The only one that really engaged me was the story of Alice, the sunny energetic daughter of the lord and lady of the local manor. She is soon to be married to the wrong man. Will she realize her mistake in time and recognize that her lowly estate gardener is her perfect match? Alice and Dillon's story had some real drama and suspense. And in a book full of sweetness and sweet romances, it was the most romantic, I thought. The other stories filled the pages nicely, but ultimately were a little tame. The complications were resolved pretty easily with a little gumption and communication.

This was a well-written book full of likable people that you want good things for. It was lovely. The happy endings were more than they probably could have imagined in their wildest dreams. In fact, it was a little too fairytale especially the book shop part. If a bookshop can be a Mary Sue, this was it. But you know what? Sometimes that's OK.

Emilia was forced to abruptly leave work halfway across the globe to come home to Peasebrook to see her father for the last time. He was terminally ill. There was nothing the doctor or she could do. The only thing Emilia could do was promise that she will take over Nightingale Books and continue to run it.

After his death, she try very hard to be the best daughter she can be by taking over Nightingale Books but with piles of debt it was a tough job. Luckily her father was well loved and she got plenty of support from everyone. Along the way she found the love of her life and her true passion.

She wasn't the only one who found love through the bookshop. Customers also met their other half there. Thomasina, a shy culinary teacher met a guy who works in the cheese shop over books. She's super shy but cute and I love characters like her. I love people who like to eat and can cook amazing foods!

The bookshop also help reunited another couple, breaking off a bad couple and brought a family back together! Even though he originally came into the shop for other bad intentions. He ended up being a good guy.

Overall I really like all the characters however at times it's too much. There are too many characters to cover and sometimes I'm lost and can't keep track of whose voice I'm following. Otherwise it's well written and I did cry over a few scenes.

A job well done!
