Of all the books in the series, the pace of this one was a bit slow for me. The story was ok it just didn't move at the pace I was used to from the other books.
When a series gets this long the risk becomes that you can do nothing new with it, but I find that each new story in this series I fall in love with it even more.
Can't wait for the next one!

This book was cool to read as we get to see a real monster and the effect he's had on every person in his life. However a lot of the book felt like a ridiculous and overdone low budget porn. The series gets a bit mad scientist supernatural too.

The Immortal population has been dealing with mysterious disappearances of their people for quite a while now. With the escape of the Notte twins Tomasso and Dante (from Runaway Vampire and Immortal Nights) we learned that a man by the name of Dressler is the one behind the abductions. Now, Lucian Argeneau has to figure out a way to infiltrate Dressler’s stronghold located on an island off Venezuela.
That’s where Domitian Argenis comes in. Domitian, a skilled and well-known chef, has been propositioned by Dressler many times over that past few months to come be his personal chef on his island. Lucian recognizes this proposition for what it is: a trap. But when Dressler also lures Domitian’s lifemate Sarita to the island, there is nothing that will stop him from going, regardless that he’s not a Hunter.
When Sarita receives a message stating that her grandmother has been injured, and is in need of care, Sarita leaves her life in Canada as a police officer and heads immediately to Venezuela. Instead of finding her grandmother, however, she’s waylaid by the mad Dressler and unwittingly pulled into his plans, whatever those plans may be. Now, she must work with the mysterious and delicious Domitian if they have any hope of escape.
Immortal Unchained marks a milestone in the series for Lynsay Sands in that it’s the 25th book! That’s impressive by any standards. I found that I overall enjoyed Immortal Unchained. There’s this undertone of The Island of Doctor Moreau running through it. And if you are at all familiar with this story, you will immediately understand the type of experiments Dressler has been conducting on his island, to a point.
I was a little thrown off in the beginning—with Domitian having already declared that Sarita is his lifemate and why exactly Sarita was on the island to begin with—I felt like I missed something somewhere.
But I liked the way Lynsay Sands builds up the specifics of the opening details in the way Domitian and Sarita get to know one another. They’re ‘getting to know you’ is a little unconventional in that they are definitely not meeting up for a coffee date. No, they end up being kept captive on a smaller more secluded island with little to no clothing between them, and that sets the tone for much sexytimes to ensue. But I liked that beyond the instant attraction they have towards one another, they actually take the time to talk and learn about one another. Domitian has lived a loooong life, and he has a very interesting history. And just because Sarita is a mere human, she’s still had many obstacles that have made her into the woman she is today. Also, everything we learn about Domitian and Sarita only lends itself to their strength and resilience to get off the island and save the people they care most about.
Immortal Unchained hit the mark for me more than the previous two books in the series. The big plus being, we get a lot more in regards to the missing Immortals story arc. But to that end, I will say things aren’t exactly tied up with a nice bow at the end, and it makes me very interested to see where the next book picks up.

Definitely not as good as previous books in the series. The only reason I finished it in a day was I had nothing else to do or read whilst workmen rebuilt our bathroom! I just didn't gel with the main characters and the ending was predictable. Hopefully the next one will be better.
Domitian has always recognized Sarita as his life mate but trying to explain Immortals to someone who has no concept of them can always be tricky. Especially since he first met his life mate when she was still in her teens. Domitian kept his distance and watched her from afar but any chance of hiding who or what he is went out the door when they were both kidnapped by a madman. Sarita has been alone for so long that when she believes her estranged grandmother needs her she drops everything to come to her help. And even though she’s a police officer Sarita doesn’t stand a chance against the supernatural forces the mad scientist has concocted in his lab. Sarita and Domitian need to come up with a plan to not only rescue themselves but save the others kept as prisoners on their island. Can Sarita trust Domitian after the crazy things he’s been saying about Immortals and life mates? Once she sees for herself what can really be between them, Sarita can no longer deny connection. But is it too later? Another great read in the Argeneau series. This is a pretty long running series so I do not recommend starting with this story especially since this is not the first book in the mad scientist storyline. They are all so entertaining I recommend going back to the begining!
- Me has espiado
- Pero solo poquito
* Beso apasionado*
Really?!
