I’m really loving these books & where the storyline is going. I always look forward to reading the next book in this series when I finish a book.
I said I wouldn't read any more after the last one, but I saw this on the shelf and before I knew it, I'd bought it. Why? Why do I keep doing this? This series started out fun, silly, and entertaining. It went on the boring and repetitive, but still a bit fun and mildly entertaining. But the last two books have just been awful.
I mean, you had to suspend your disbelief to get to the main premise that these are immortals from Atlantis who developed vampire-like tendencies because of the advanced society. Never mind that they keep calling it evolution when they develop fangs even though it's within the same generation. But now, it's gone all Dr. Moreau. This one was just stupid.
Please, someone shoot me if I pick up the next one!

Immortal Unchained by Lyndsay sands is not the first book I have read in the Argeneau series. so with that in mind, I will be weighing this story merits based on previous instalments of this fascinating series.
Well, first things first, This tale is told from two viewpoints, our heroine Sarita and our hot Vampire Domitian, I'm assuming that the reader is familiar with this series and life-mates but if not for the Argeneau virgins here's a brief explanation.
There's a life-mate for each vampire and the ability to recognise them comes from being unable to read or control their future life partner.
The vampires are originally from Atlantas.
it's the advanced technology with nano's that repair their bodies, that make them practically immortal, it's these nano's that need the extra blood.
You can only turn one person, so this is usually reserved for the life-mate.
so now that's out of the way lets get back to this book,
Immortal Unchained is book number 25 in this series it features the above two characters I mentioned before Sarita who is a cop and Domitian who after numerous occupations over his many years is now a chef.
Both end up stranded on an island after being lured there by Dr Dressler who seems very insane, so the mad scientist label would definitely be a fit.
Now all the action takes part on the small island our two lovebirds are stranded on and also a bigger one where the mad doctor has been running his diabolical unethical experiments from.
I really don't want to give too much away so will just say what I think
of the overall plotline.
This wasn't my favourite of Miss Sands books but was still a great read,
it was fast paced, the writing flowed and the action between our two mains well let's just say it was sizzling hot.
We get to meet previous characters from earlier books which was really nice, we also get a conclusion which while very satisfying also had an open-ended finish which paves the way for future releases.
so in conclusion, while not being my number one read of this author this is still a worthy offering of Argeneau yumminess that is well worth a read.
I received an e-copy free of this book from Netgalley and this is my own honest opinion.

This is 2 1/2 stars and I'm bumping it down because I think I've bumped too many of these up for the last 10 or so. Parts were OK and parts good but it really only was OK in the end. There was no laughs at all for me and a few parts where I thought, that couldn't happen because he could have just read the person. If you are in an operation military or police, you would always be on alert and read everyone, yet... Oh, it was such a stupid set up and ending that I'm left with a meh feeling and wondering again, 'why do I continue to read this series'. Here it was island of doctor Moreau, and not a very good one. **sigh**
Read my 25% update because it pretty much is the same throughout.
25%-I really don't know why I continue to read this series other than it was a favorite PNR, with many of the first 14 making it to my favorites (though there were a couple in there that were not good IMO). The last 10 books have been OK/good to good but none have been really good or great, not since hungry for you. They are now frequently convoluted, trying too much to make a great back ground story, while the couple are so attracted that they cannot think straight, making them either hot or idiotic. The only problem is either one or both fail to interest. So far both the story and couple are pretty bad in this one. It is too obvious what the doctor is trying to learn, trying to turn, yet he knows so, so much and hasn't figured this out. Wow! And the couple doesn't stop first and think about this situation but kidnapped they start getting jiggy with it.
Then there is the lack of humor. It used to be that I would love these for the humor but now, it is lucky to have a laugh or two. In the beginning here she stupidly carries knives while in a dark unknown room, down stair, and ends up cutting herself. I think she was trying to make it clumsy and funny but it ended up just inept and idiotic. She says she is clumsy yet she is this tough police officer. Hmm... clumsy police officer, also stupid to not know her own limits, hmm... I almost feel like doing a DNF at this point 28% in. I keep on hoping that she will close out this kidnapping wacko doctor line and she will go back to the boy meets girl and one has to slowly figure out how to introduce the idea of the paranormal with all the bumps and trips, but I guess that ship has sailed. Well I guess I'll push on through. **sigh**
Spoiler
In the end, the Asherah supposedly is help, which is ridiculous for none of the immortals downstairs not to notice and Domitian doesn't notice either. Sarita is a cop and able to take two of the guards and isn't able to take Asherah before the stabbing? And I cannot believe he was able to take all those immortals.Spoiler
And the doctor of course gets away.Read my 25% update because it pretty much is the same throughout.

Them being locked on a island was a n interesting twist. I'm interested in the hybrids though and how they'll get along. Also super surprised that the doctor already knew how to turn himself.
TW: This book is way more graphic than other books in the series. Some of the rogue hunters have been kidnapped by an evil scientist and the descriptions of his experiments are very hard to experience.
I really enjoyed, well, was involved in the mystery and the relationship with Sarita and Domitian. Domitian had found Sarita was his life mate when she was 13, so he had waited 15 years to "claim" her. He and Sarita are thrown together by the scientist, Dressler, in order for Dressler to find out how immortals turn mortals into immortals.
This was yet another new mystery, with previously unknown immortals and life mates and Sands has done it again. I will be very sad when I'm caught up with the 33+ book series, which is coming up soon :(

Absolutely loved it.
Adventure, humor, suspense, adult romance.
Can't get enough.
Loved the two main characters. Sarita the mortal 'Buttkicking' cop and Domitian the immortal hot, steamy chef!
