This was a good story. Definitely some surprises in the plot itself and kept me interested. Oh, and I have said before I'm a sucker for a happy ending/love story so that helped!

This seriously has to be one of the most slow books I've read in recent years. I read several of Sparks' other books years ago and do not remember them being this hard to get through. Nothing really happened until the last 20% of the book. So much unnecessary detail, such a bummer.

I have never been one to put down a book, but after reading this I could not get to 100 pages. Trying to read this book for a week, I would always find myself putting it down after reading 20-30 pages at a time. It is very slow-paced for me and there’s nothing that interests me besides wanting to know more about his grandfather.

I used to be a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks but, sadly, I have not liked his last 4 books. I think I may just have to stop reading his books. I found this to be incredibly slow. I’m surprised I managed to finish it! It is written in first person and centers around a very detailed backstory of the main characters grandfather. A lot of narration and not enough dialogue for my taste. It was hard to connect with any of the characters so I found myself not really caring about any storylines. I really didn’t like Natalie. I feel we didn’t get to know her well and she didn’t talk much. How Natalie and Trevor fell in love after having 4 tense, awkward conversations just baffled me. Really can’t think of anything I liked about the book.

When Trevor Benson moves into his grandfather's house, he expects to clean it up and put it up for sale. He never expects to become so involved in the community - especially two of those community members, a sheriff's deputy he falls fast and hard for, and a teenage girl who no one knows much about. So, this wasn't my favorite of Nicholas Sparks' books. I felt like the relationships were rushed and the characters weren't as well-developed as in some of his other books. I loved the grandfather and his bees, though.

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and Libro.FM for an advanced listener copy.

A very readable book but nothing that overly gripped me. An affair was featured which was not my favorite. Some of the dialogue read like it was written by an older man.

3 Stars.

As a Nicholas Sparks’ fan, I had high expectations for this book. In my opinion, this book misses that special magic that characterizes his stories, that kind of magic that makes the reader not only fall in love with the characters, but also feed the hope to one day find a love like that for oneself.

In all honesty, the first half of the book was incredibly slow and uneventful. My favorite part was Trevor describing how intricate and organized bee colonies are.
The second half picked up a bit, and was more easily readable, but I found myself waiting for the punchline.

I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters. Natalie didn’t share anything about herself until the very end, Callie was even less approachable and consistently mean, grampa could’ve had a longer backstory, I would’ve loved to hear more about the love story between Trevor’s grandparents.

TLDR: no tears were cried.
