Read this in one sitting and absolutely loved it. So imperfectly real. The spice was magnificent. The plot and the characters were to die for. The tension between the MC’s = *swoon*. I’m dying at the ending and praying for the next book *fingers crossed?* I even signed up for the newsletter to get the additional chapter, which i NEVER do. This book just did something for it. I guess I really like the fake dating trope… but god i want a happy ending. will i get one eventually??? fuk i hope so; i’m rooting for these MC’s so bad

I do not recommend this book.

I'm not really sure how to feel about this book. The story wasn't that great, they went back-forth (what they called the push and pull) and we didn't get that much back story. Nothing was adressed, like all the bad situations were just swept under the rug, they pretended it didn't happen. Also, WTH WAS THAT ENDING? That just made me mad.

Read it because of booktok, finished it because I don't like to DNF books. And I was too far it, might as well finish it so it can count towards my goal this year.

Please check CW!!! This was chef’s kissing

5/5 ✰ — where’s the rest of this series. i need it now. i already loved ares and the idea of his book. i love fawn and i need more of this as soon as possible. like now. or yesterday, the cliffhanger was IMMACULATE! (way better than sloane and dorian, seriously) like i might need to do a reread just to reabsorb

So good but mad it left me on a cliffhanger. Did make me cry during parts but overall good story

Ughhhhhh I’m conflicted.

1) not a standalone. TikTok misled me, but ultimately that’s my own fault I suppose. That damn cliffhanger!!

2) I’m in no way saying that I don’t understand the odd typo that gets through the editing process, or even the odd formatting error, but… this was bad. Lots of things that could have been cleaned up easily with a few read throughs. It felt like words were missing from sentences quite a bit and it made it difficult to read.

3) I really wanted to like this, but I just don’t think I can, despite finishing it. Idk, the whole thing just makes me uncomfy.

I originally started reading this series as a whole because this book (the fourth in the series) was featured on my FYP and my reels on TikTok and Instagram.

Overall, I enjoyed it. It’s an easy read to get through, but it has its flaws.  This is the second time in the series two of the friends of the MMC have attempted to sexually assault the FMC
(in this book it is Wells and Thatcher with Fawn, in the past it has been Wells and Thatcher with Sloane)
. And this is the second time it just happens and then is never brought up again. I cannot imagine being assaulted in this way and then within a few days just being friends with them and never bringing it up. For me, it’s a hard thing to look past.

Ares had some major flaws in the beginning of the series but through a lot of plot and character development grew in the first three books and actually was one of my favorite characters of the series. That regresses a lot in this book with him taking on the role of the MMC. He’s flat out not likeable through a lot of this
(the reasoning is supposed to be that he had a scare with cancer, and while I can definitely see that taking a toll on a person, I don’t want to believe it would result in some of the absolutely heartless shit he does in this book)
. His reasoning behind what he’s doing makes little-to-no sense to me.

I like Fawn, and her description is why I originally started the series. Plus-sized, covered in tattoos, deals with addiction and trauma? Sign me up. I want to like her with Ares. I want to root for them. It’s just Ares does not give you a lot to work with in this.

I know there will be more books to come and the cliffhanger left some twists and turns. I can only hope some of the previous character development makes a comeback.
