this book made sure my 2022 ended on a low. i don't remember being so angry and annoyed at a book more than this. it was a thorough hate-read.
i didn't love it, i wanted to so badly. i went in from tiktok, hoping for a fat mc x jock enemies-to-lovers. boy, was i wrong. the dude is just so unsure about his own emotions. he says one thing and does another, it gets exhausting after a while. he's not hot, he's just whiny and super childish overall with his angry tantrums every two pages. he's an asshole in the beginning and he ends up being an emo, self sabotaging prick by the end. not enough progress to redeem him. i didn't see the hype for the legacy group either, i liked sloan, sure, but not enough to redeem this book. the other friends were meh, their first impression sucked considering they physically abused someone right off the bat. the interactions in the beginning between the main characters seemed so uncomfortable and borderline disturbing. i'm not a prude, i enjoy dub-con/non-con, but this was just very lackluster with no real tension or even chemistry. it seemed forced. the sex scenes were fine, but everytime it had some weirdly profound bullshit inserted in between which just took me out of it altogether. it was just plain bad. the characters hate each other, talk about past trauma, have sex, avoid each other, hate each other again, and repeat. it's just incredibly annoying to get through.
i liked fawn. she's tough and sweet, and even when i hated her choices, i understood them. i just wish she had one person on her side, just one. everyone keeps fucking her over and my girl deserves none of that. by the end, she does become much bolder so that growth is the only reason i rated the book 2 stars.
the twist was meh. i think it's a misdirect to be honest.

(3.5) Not a bad book, it more of a bully to lovers romance…the cliff hanger got me. I thought this was a stand alone, but there were parts where I knew I’d need to read others to understand some of the plot point. Be warned, you will have to read the next to see what happens.
4.25⭐️
I am in such denial right now. There is NO WAY that Fawn is dating Bruno. I refuse, she can't. Ares and Fawn have so much trauma and they bond over it and they love each other despite what Ares thinks. Even in the other books he pushed the people he loved away and he's doing it again. I am currently mad at Fawn if she is dating Bru because there is NO WAY that she would do that to Wolf. If she did I don't know what I will do. Wolf has gone through so much and the fact that he has cancer kills me because this poor kid has been through enough. I am so excited for the next book oh my god. I love the nickname Red so freaking much and Red and Wolf better be happy by the end of this series. It made me so happy to see Dorian and Sloane happy together, it really warms my heart. I am so excited to read the next book!!
