Writing wasn’t great overall. But full on abuse and SA was never address. It was all over the place and also, improper use of “fisting”.

There is something about this book that has me itching for more. Did it make me kind of uncomfortable? Yeah. I think, as someone who is not far out of college, this book feels out of touch with its subject material, but I also completely understand that this genre is meant to appeal to an audience with a wide age range, so I can almost excuse it. I also think that as a mid-sized woman (this author would probably describe my bodytype similar to the main characters) I find the other characters (and narrators) descriptions and actions based on the main character’s body to be highly uncomfortable, especially in the beginning.
But do I still want to read the sequel? Also yeah. I think that this book toes a line, but does it in a way that is intriguing. I think you have to go into the book prepared for some fat phobia, borderline fat fetishization, and use of a popularity-based power imbalance.

DID NOT FINISH: 27%

horrible horrible horrible. honestly would've stopped earlier, but i gave it the benefit of the doubt, and then it just kept getting worse.

Honestly, the messiness of a “plot” was distracting from the good bits. It’s like the author wanted to fit in too many extra plot points! There are far too many unanswered and disregarded questions. Also, it calls itself a fake dating book but like…doesn’t really do it? Maybe I missed something but I doubt that. Wouldn’t recommend beyond SOME decent smut—some!
