This book covers ways that children might feel when starting a new school. It is a great book for the social emotional skill of separating from their guardian. It has rhyming and colorful pictures to enhance the story.
BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL! Yes that's right the original is a classic, but somehow Llama Llama Misses Mama is even better, more expressive and perfect for reading before starting preschool or kindergarten.
Had to read this to my niece at bedtime. It was fun reading it out loud.
T loves the book. Of course it misrepresents school and invalidates children's feelings, but she wants to hear it over and over again.
Oh boy. This one is just as good as Red Pajamas. It actually makes me get goosebumps and tear up a little. Poor Llama llama has a hard time on his first day of school, and misses his llama mama. Great rhymes and pictures, as always, good lesson (it's okay to be sad, but mama will come back, you can have fun too!). I love all the other kinds of little animals in the class (the giraffe is my favourite), and I think kids would have fun identifying them. A really sweet first day of school story.
The rhyme scheme in these books is always fun.
Finally! A llama llama book I can get behind!
Abby was a bit of a bear after we read ... Mad at Momma! one too many times, so when I saw the title of this book on the library shelf, I pounced!
I was a bit cautious as we cracked it open- would I be in for another month of cranky, spiteful toddler blessed with the knowledge it's ok to be mad at momma? Or would I get a pardon (since, ya know, I was the one who spent hours at the library with her picking out books?)
Winner, winner chicken dinner! This time around, Llama Llama isn't shredding his toys, not sharing, or throwing temper tantrums in stores- he's going to school! And sadly, too! But all's well that ends, well, and Momma doesn't abandon him so yay, Momma's the hero!
:exhales: phew!
Seriously though, I actually felt bad for the little grumper this time around. The author does capture that toddler fuss pretty succinctly!

Great back-to-school title that addresses fears of being left behind.
Very nice book! The perfect book to read and teach a kid when it starts going to school. I will buy it in the future(I don't have kids yet').
Cute book to read to children who may have some separation anxiety from their families, when they come to school.
