This book was intensely smutty. The smut was the point and the plot felt more like an afterthought. I didn't dislike it necessarily, but I might have to read the rest when I'm in a mood to power through a book later.

Ummmmmmmmm? Guess this just wasn't for me.

The use of language in this is something else. LOL In a great way! It was so silly without being corny. There were some moments that I rolled my eyes with how repetitive or dragged out a moment was, though. And I hated how she didn't realize what he was for so long, because it was painfully obvious to the reader. But, those are what kept this from being a five star read.

Overall, I think this is one of my favorite Beauty and the Beast retellings. It's familiar enough to know what it's from, but it has enough differences to make it unique. It does end on a cliffhanger. I could have done without that! (But perhaps it's a cliffhanger because the ending we all know will have more depth and adventure? I hope!)

Finley is a poor woman who lives in a forgotten village plagued by a curse that kills everyone eventually. She’s developed an elixir that slows the process but making it requires venturing into the forbidden woods filled with monsters. She’s caught by the beast who takes her to the castle and locks her in a tower. The people there have been frozen in time since the curse took hold 16 years ago. Has hot cold relationship with him, he turns out to be the prince. Lots of spice, some of it quite funny.

This is spicy and has a FMC who is no damsel.

This is a solid amazing first book in a series I am eager to finish now.

I love the dragon romances and how strong K. F. Breene’s females characters are.

Always love a good Beauty and the Beast retelling. I'm liking the crazy darkness and the twists in this one, as well as how much more drawn out (in a good way) it is versus the original story.
