I really wanted to love this book so much more than I did. I’m a sucker for a good beauty and the beast retelling. But I just had so many issues with it.
Ultimately I gave it three stars because I really did enjoy the story, the dynamic between the love interest and herself, and the underlying plot. I also plan to read the next ones because I absolutely need to know what happens.
What I couldn’t stand was the MC’s internal dialogue. I spent the first 25% of this book absolutely hating everything she said. Her interactions were so inconsistent that I couldn’t figure out what type of character she was. Something would happen and I would get sucked back into the story, and then she would have an internal conversation with an imaginary audience (wtf is with that) and I remembered how much I couldn’t stand her.
And don’t get me started on the swearing.
I love swearing, I use a plethora of swearwords on a regular basis. But the swearing in this book was like you gave an 11-year-old a list of swear words but didn’t tell them how to use any of them. It was so painful to listen to.
At the end of the day, she hooked me with the plot, enemies to lovers, and smut, but I’m still going to live the rest of my life hating this MC.

Great new series from Queen Breene

Queen Breene has brought another strong and sassy heroine to life. Finley is a new favorite. And that Nyfain- woo man! It’s always fun to see the damsel doing the saving. I cannot wait for the next book to see how Finley puts her beast in his place!

So Bad

This was just bad. So, so bad. The direct story between Finley and Nyfain had promise but literally remove everything else. The D rated pornhub backdrops, the teen speak and idioms. The god awful sex scenes. There is a vast difference between teasing/tension, passion/sex and trash. This falls in the trash category.

Just so bad.
