Honestly...I'm just getting into the Smutty-verse. I enjoyed the spice, but the story was a bit meh for me.
It took a solid third of the book for the story to remotely pick up. Hadriel is the best part of the book.
Not my favorite read, but that's just my opinion.

Honestly, I just couldn't get into it. This makes me so sad because I was obsessed with the Demigods of San Francisco series. The writing is completely different and lacks plot development. This was basically nothing but horny demons up to the point I quit reading.
Some non-con, dub-con.
I wanted a paranormal romance similar to Discovery of Witches or Twilight. It seems I've exhausted the vampire genre, so I had to branch out. I know this is a take on beauty and the beast, but it seemed to be almost a direct knock off of A Court of Thorn and Roses specifically (also a retelling of Beauty and the Beast). However, I don't even remember the description to this book other than it said it was going to be sexy and 18+... But so was A Discovery of Witches and that was hardly smut.
This was smut.
It was good smut, but I was not prepared, haha. And I'm no prude! I would listen to the audiobook on my way to work. As I rolled into the parking lot, I would have to turn my volume down to nothing but a whisper because it felt illegal to listen to this privately in my car.
I hadn't realized it was part of a series until just a couple of days ago and I should have realized it would end on a horrible cliffhanger! I will probably not be continuing the series as, though I did enjoy the flithiness of the text, I'm not someone to subject myself to raunchy sex filled books back to back. I also have a slew of other books that are in my TBR list that I've been trying to get to. But more so, unfortunately this book was just not good enough for me to continue the series. Perhaps after I get through some of the other books that I've been meaning to read And I begin to experience about of sexual loneliness, I'll come back to this series.
As for now my rating will remain a 3.5.
And I mean that cliffhanger is a C L I F F H A N G E R. LIKE MID-CLIMAX CLIFFHANGER.

This, unfortunately, would have been a DNF if I hadn't promised to read it. It had poor writing, spice that wasn't spice, and I have not a clue the time period.
There's a big theme of being "smut heavy" but I didn't see it like that. It had a couple out there kinks that weren't explored and yesss every time the MCs spoke they wanted to do each other. But even that was nothing crazy on the smut scale for being a
"ridiculously read." The time period threw me for the biggest loop. There's no more electricity but they talk very modern but the females only wear dresses and at one point they had electricity. Was the house like the ones we live in now or a wooden cottage or something else? I couldn't picture anything | was reading.
I wasn’t exactly sold at the beginning but pushing past that was worth it enough.
I didn’t love the ending but that’s mostly because nothing was resolved even a little bit in this book.
The world building was pretty good and the characters didn’t totally annoy me.

I'm going to be honest, this book was awful. It was like that Horse in a Hospital skit from John Mulaney because you don't know what the horse is going to do next and you can't stop watching what the horse is doing. It was so terrible that I couldn't stop reading because I wanted to see what ridiculous thing happened next. Granted, there was a smidgen of a plot but it was overshadowed by all the weird sex comments and the Alpha dynamic between the two main characters.
