This was a cute, cheesy read. I found it fairly simplistic and predictable, but it was a nice lighthearted read. Some of the emotional connections that Sky builds with the people around him were very sweet and heartwarming.

I finished this book in under 6 hours, so I must have really liked it.
It was pretty clear from the beginning that this would be a predictable story, and I was right. But what surprised me the most was how there was no drama at all. So much potential for drama, but it was all resolved very quickly and in a wholesome way. That was really refreshing to all the angst and misunderstandings and miscommunication there usually are in these kinds of stories.
Don't get me wrong, this book deals with some sad and important issues, but it just chooses to concentrate on the positive things. I absolutely loved the friendship and found family aspect of this. And I was surprised by all the emotions I felt at several points which I was not prepared for.
This is just a fun, wholesome, queer read. Real life is much harder, I know, but I loved to imagine how everything could be better if people were just nicer to each other.
I enjoyed the writing style, though it might not be for everyone with all the pop culture references. And I do have an issue with some problematic stalker behavior at the beginning.

Didn't fall in love with the characters and the ending was pretty predictable and anti climactic. I've read books that handle similar topics a lot more interestingly. Kind of feels like a knockoff of Simon Vs the Homosapiens Agenda- aka Love, Simon.

This book snuck up on me. I didn't really like it in the first two chapters because the writing style felt like it was trying to sound "teen" too hard. But the turn of this story from a Promposal story to a story of friendship and acceptance and not-just-romance completely changed my opinion. I love that (spoiler) Sky doesn't end up with the crush that started all of this, but he still has a happy ending. And I love that the small town in this book, though still very backwards and prejudiced, has a pocket of accepting and liberal people. Robbie Couch makes a point to show that, even in small towns where one might feel alone, there are more people on your side than you think.

This book is a great example of how many different issues can be explored in an organic way rather than feeling forced. I'm amazed by the nuances Couch uses to talk about racism, homophobia/transphobia, identity, being kicked out of your home, losing a parent when young, physical trauma, and probably a few more things I'm forgetting.

I also like that the whole plot didn't revolve around figuring out who sent out the racist and homophobic email blast. Sure, it was part of it, but the focus was definitely on community and friendship and moving forward. They start their whole T-shirt stunt with the thought of revenge, but it ends up becoming something that brings people together and makes people more comfortable being themselves in many different ways. (*queues up 'Stick to the Status Quo' from HSM

Plus, I have a soft spot for high school journalism classes, because that was one of the few parts of high school I can look back on fondly.

Anyway, this is a great story that I'm excited to see exists in the world for teens who are grappling with identity and trauma in their many different forms.

Absolutely phenomenal and I'm gutted its over. I alternated between laughing, tearing up, gasping, and screeching the entire time. Steller writing, characters, plot twists, and the most gorgeous friendships. I adore this so much and I'm definitely looking for more by this author. The only thing is that we didn't see the resolution with the antagonists which bothers me a bit because it feels important but its not a downside in the slightest. Im high  on this book for sure

Woooow okay this was sooo good. And not just good, it was amazing. It was definitely not what I was expecting. I thought it was a romance novel, which this has, but it turns out is more about Sky standing up against his bullies with his friends and learning more about his father. Such a wonderful story, I wish it was a serious. I would love to read more about the characters.

Realised I just wasn't enjoying this! Didn't care how it ended and was bored. The characters were nice and varied. But just not for me.
