I picked up the audiobook during an art study that I was doing and I agreed on a handful of notes that the book stated, but others made me rather uncomfortable.

Positives:
- You get one chance, use it.
- You should try to make the best out of a bad situation.

Negatives:
- The book states that you're at fault for feeling anything negative when somebody else does something bad to you. It makes it seem that people are only victims if they want to be ones. Please remember, you don't control other people's actions.
- To some extent, this book promotes toxic positivity.
- This book promotes thankfulness to people who have hurt/harmed you in any way.

Toxic positivity: the pressure to only display positive emotions, suppressing any negative emotions, feelings, reactions, or experience. Note that this can lead to trauma, isolation, and unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Such a great book. I immediately started practicing the exercises it gives and have felt very joyous in the last few days.

A good place to start when dealing with fear or anxiety. The author provides helpful exercises and stories which illustrate these.

I decided to listen to this on audiobook because it became available at my local library and I'm a sucker for non fiction that's read by the person who wrote it.

The main message I took away from this book: I can handle it.

Dr Jeffers explains a lot about the concept of fear and how you can tread new mental paths by saying certain sentences or simply changing a word in a phrase you usually say. Like anything we do in life, from brushing out teeth to walking to rumination  it's all habits and patterns and automation and with tike and effort we can change our thoughts and reprogramme fear.

I feel like it lost its way a little in that last quarter and I'm jnot sure why but i found myself upping the speed of the audio to get through it quicker.

This book helped me so much. Recommend 100% if you're a little bit shy like me.
