4/5 stars. I recognized the title from when I was growing up but couldn't recall if I'd read it. It was absolutely delightful having Rainn Wilson reading it to me. It's hilarious to an adult, I'm sure I couldn't appreciate its humor as a kid. Really good wordplay and cleverly named characters. This was such a fun read.

I think this is a cute book with a good message, but it's clearly meant for a younger audience. I would happily give this book to a younger member of my family, and I hope they would appreciate the jokes and silly characters so much that maybe they'd remember some of the lessons that Milo learns along the way. I think that's exactly the strength of this book. Nobody wants to hear advice from someone older, and in fact you often forget exactly what you've been told. But maybe this silly story will do some good at showing how wonderful life is.

Read this again to compare to my childhood recollections and see when it would be suitable for my daughter to try. Was just as much fun as I remembered. Some great wordplay and fantastic creatures for kids. Some of the moral-based statements are a little heavy-handed but I don't think children will notice this as much as adults. This would be a great book to read with/to you 9-12 year old.
