Yay found a version which has good stories written in simple English. Reading this book to my son.

A quick read. Something every child should have in their library.

Very cute. Felt like I already knew the vast majority of the fables just because they’re common sayings or found in children’s books that somehow I still remember deep down in my chicken brain. But it was still fun. Would be more entertaining if you were reading them to a child or you were said child, probably.

It was really great reading about where the sayings come from! Very fun.

I loved Aesop’s fables growing up so nice to read the entire collection and remember the stories I grew up with. Amazing use of animals and short tales to teach little life lessons. No matter if you know many or few already, there’ll be at least a few you love. A great example of how language, stories and lessons have passed through generations, as far back as a slave from 620BC. Better then the bible at least

I liked this one better than "Grimm's Fairy Tales" because A) they're all super short, great for reading a teeny bit at a time and B) the language is much more understandable. But like "Grimm's Fairy Tales", the stories get repetitive after a while. They're all moral lessons, and they fall under three categories: evil is its own ruin, be honest and don't lie, don't be vain/greedy/prideful. Consequences of failing to heed lessons A, B, and C will result in you being eaten by a tiger 90% of the time.
