Currently rereading these books as I'm writing a dissertation on escapism in children's literature.

What a delight it was to revisit the folk of the Faraway Tree. My husband bought me this after I'd gone all misty eyed during a conversation about books we loved as children. Without doubt these are the stories that turned me into the voracious reader I am today. Enid Blyton may well be out of fashion, but she knew how to tell a tale and make you feel like you were part of a special world.

The Faraway Tree collection remains one of the most whimsical books I remember from my childhood, the limitless ideas of all the lands that can appear at the top of the tree worked only to fuel my imagination and excite my childhood mind.

Overall a truly magical book perfect for any young reader.

My all time favourite series when I was little!

A bit old-fashioned to be honest, I disagree that curiosity and being interested in other people is a bad thing and shouldn't be discouraged in children. If anything when I was a kid, I would have wanted to hang around with Connie much more than be bored to tears by the two Mary-Sue's and Gary-Stu. Still it was fun to see what fun and inventive lands were at the top of the tree.

A book from my childhood that I must have read a hundred times, it was fantastical and everything a child wanted in a book, or at least a child like me. It is something I will definitely read to my children in the hope they will love it as much as I did. A good choice to read for a child, full of fun and adventures, mystical beings and unusual places!

I read this when I was younger and I loved it, and I still love it now. Such a good read and I breezed through it! I would like to get The Adventures of the Wishing Chair next!
