A succinct, powerful memoir depicting the abusive relationship between a famed 50-year-old male writer and a 14-year-old girl. The mother in this book is profoundly troubling as well. A fast-paced and disconcerting read.

All I can say is: more power to Vanessa Springora! She’s penned a gripping and heartbreaking memoir of abuse
dark emotional informative reflective sad medium-paced

Every horrific account of sexual predation and pedophilia is both the same and unique. This particular horror came in the form of a fourteen year old girl’s “relationship”, quite out in the open and barely challenged, with an almost fifty year old celebrated literary figure and an intellectual/artistic community that protected him. His sick and distorted perspective is everywhere in his published books; I’m glad that she’s now able to come forward with her own account of that time in her life and the damage it caused.
