Defying Our Forever
The Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers, Book 3
By: Claudia Burgoa
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Kelsey Navarro

First off, I am loving this series. There is something to be said about family and even though not close in the beginning, these brothers are finding their way. This is the third book and it features Pierce and Layla. Problems with their marriage since we met them, they are now in a sticky situation. When they first met, the two were inseparable. Opposites in every way, the chemistry was their glue. Pierce began to become distant though, never really revealing his past, and not contributing to their marriage. Layla was increasingly more and more unhappy and with the his final secret revealed, is not sure she can stay with him. Now with the the terms of his father's will, they are stuck together unless she signs the papers. Will they find their way back to each other? Will the two realize what is truly important? Loved their journey and the interaction with the women and brothers. This is a family I feel like I am with as Claudia Burgoa continues their saga! It's like a reunion each time I visit the Baker's Creek Billionaires.

Kelsey Navarro Foster and Teddy Hamilton pull out all the stops with this narration. Foster brings all the love and pain that Layla has felt. Each emotion is evident and easy to understand, breaking my heart and putting it back together. Hamilton plays the attentive and loving Pierce and easily falls into the negativity he has. Each finds the essence of the characters and makes the story come alive.

Can we talk about the need to shake Claudia Burgoa for answers!?! Okay, fine. How about the fact that Pierce is clearly an even bigger jackass than his older brothers!?! Or so damn stubborn you want to shake him until he gets a concussion amnesia, or both!?!

Pierce, dude, what the heck!?! I want to hug you and strangle you. I'm so glad you learned to pull your head out of your posterior. I was just shy of throwing my kindle.

Leyla, honey, you are a better woman than I am. Your grace and love is a gift. Your ingenuity in making Pierce's life difficult is a talent and a blessing. (Though, I'm not sure he would agree. Also I am secretly taking notes in case I need ideas in the future!)

Despite your messy, messy choices, I can honestly say, Ley and Pierce, you have stolen my heart. Your story is both tragic and beautiful. Your new beginning is epic. Second chances never looked so wonderful.

The brothers Grimm might not appreciate it but the house of mouse is surely looking to buy the rights.

A toast to the Aldridges:
May you live long.
Fight hard.
Love unconditionally.

I couldn't wait to read Defying Our Forever, book three in the brilliant Baker's Creek Billionaire Brothers series by Claudia Burgoa. With each book, the series gets better and better. This family and these brothers have grown on me.

Pierce Aldrige has had a hard time, not being loved the way he should've been by his mother, which left its marks. And then Leyla Gibbs came around, the beautiful red-haired veterinarian. Both of them hold so many secrets, prefer to keep things hidden. Neither wants to fall in love, but they might just be the best thing for each other. Everything's coming up roses until after their wedding when Pierce distances himself. He changes and no longer seems to be the man Leyla married. But she can't leave him, not yet. Things come different when his father dies and, to fulfil his will, makes the Aldrige brothers live together in Baker's Creek for 18 months. This might be the opportunity they needed to fix things. But maybe the line between victory and defeat is too thin?

Pierce and Leyla ended up being my two favourite characters so far. I really did love these two. They definitely had their fair share of ups and downs, but not once did I lose hope that they would get back together. Their love for each other was just too undeniable. And it will also never get boring with this horde of people. The Aldrige brothers are just something else. This makes me really excited for the next book, Beacon and Grace’s story in Call You Mine. I recommend reading the releases in order, as it provides a much better understanding of the series. (And you wouldn't want to miss any bits and pieces of the Aldridge family.)

Claudia Burgoa has done another fantastic job with this book and these characters. The series is one of my current favourites. Each book just stirs the anticipation for the next books even more. Defying Our Forever is a wonderful 5-star-read.

The premise for this book intrigues me. The writing style is slightly different. The first half of the book covers several years which spans from their adorable meeting, points during the first year of their arrangement, their wedding and then separation. The last 50% of the book is when they move to Baker’s Creek and all the brothers start interacting.

While reading this book the a side character and subplot sounded so familiar, I actually stopped to double-check and realized it really was about Nyx from the author’s recently released book - Didn’t Expect You (Against All Odds #2). That book was the first I had read by this author, and I loved it.

This book about Pierce and Leyla has both POVs so you get a better understanding of what is really going on and why they are doing and acting how they are. For this story it really helps because both main characters are severely broken. What they put each other through, why they do it and how they eventually fight to stay together is a pretty amazing journey. As you learn more about what each of them had experienced prior to meeting, you better appreciate what it takes to make their relationship have a chance to succeed.

I will say having read Nyx’s book, Pierce’s assistant’s story, I felt like I had a much better understanding of how truly vile his mother and her side of Pierce’s family was. I had not read the prior two books in the Baker’s Creek Billionaires series before reading this book, so it can be read as a standalone without being lost. I will say I plan to go back and read the other brothers’ books because the brothers are each pretty unique and their storylines sound interesting.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wow.

Pierce has been one of my least favorite Aldridge brothers since the series began. He certainly redeemed himself in this book.

I loved seeing how his & Leyla’s story began. They go through a lot of struggles to find their way back to each other.

Everything happens for a reason.

Book 2 in the Baker's Creek series can be read completely read and enjoyed standalone. Right from the start this story pulled me in. As we get to know Pierce and Leyla, there's love, anger disappointment, happiness in a story that's very well crafted and very readable.

I absolutely loved finally learning of how Layla and Pierce got together and how they came to not stand each other when we first met them. Both have many layers to them and your heart breaks for Layla's past as well as how Pierce's upbringing basically ruined him for love. There are plenty of highs and lows and I really liked how the book started way back and then through having to go to back to Baker’s Creek up to the now, so get ready for tears, laughter, anger, hope as not only couples come together but also a fractured family is slowly repaired.

I series cannot get enough of these Aldridge men and their amazing heroines!! I have been dying for Pierce and Leyla's story. I so wanted to know why these two were getting divorced when it seemed like they still strongly careful about each other. This book did not disappoint!

First off I want to say that my heart broke for Leyla. I just couldn't imagine having something like that happen! Even though she was broken she was still so strong and so full of love. She was the grounding force that all these brothers needed. Pierce I loved, then hated, then loved again. My heart did ache for him because the Bryant's (especially his mother) are a real piece of work. If you want a good idea of how horrible they are read Didn't Expect You (Nyx and Nate's story). I loved that their story started at the moment they met and went from there, even with the overlapping from the first two books. It really helped build their story better.

I love this family and cannot wait to read the last three brother's stories. I especially want to know what all the letters say!!! This is by far one of the best books I have read this year!

*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*

This is book three in The Bakers Creek Billionaire Brothers series, this is Pierce and Leyla's story, and as much as I loved the first two this one so far is my favourite, I loved their story from start to finish.

The more you read these books the more you get to know all the brothers and their childhoods, and even though they hate their father for doing this it is bringing them together for the first time and they are getting on and supporting each other.

Pierce and Leyla fell hard for each other from the start, when he brought a dog into where she worked as a vet, she accused him of it being his, which it wasn't and in the end they both take him back to Pierce's place to nurse him back to health.

Both of them had secrets that they didn't tell each other, which forced them apart but they both still loved each other, can they get over it?

This can be read as a stand-alone but I would highly recommend the first two books first to get some of the back stories, it is a brilliant series.

The storyline has all the ingredients of a story that has the potential of ripping your heart out. But it feels like clinical storytelling to me. I mean, the FMC just divulged Big Secret, and instead of having me going Gasp and Oh No and Why You Make Me Cry?, I'm like Eh OK So That's What This Is About.
Dnf'ing at 20%.
