This book was a sordid tale of obsession and lengths in which we will go to receive the attention we desire.
While I didn’t really connect to any of the characters, this was still a decent and entertaining book. I found it to be quite predictable and the ending was a little bit too perfect for me. I bounced between the ebook and audiobook and both were fine but I did prefer the audiobook.
Freya was such an unforgiving character! So selfish and unkind, it was difficult at times to understand her seemingly universal appeal.
Low, a grumpy teen with issues making interpersonal relationships is a difficult perspective to read from. She’s so unlikeable and the juxtaposition between her actions and her understanding of those actions, is pretty jarring.
Jamie, the most redeemable of the trio, is still racked with issues and a desperate need to be accepted by Freya despite the many, many warning signs.
Three main perspectives, three unlikeable POVs! The author did a great job creating a tense atmosphere throughout the book, causing the reader to want to yell at the characters and set them straight!
This is not my favorite novel of the year, but it was enjoyable and I can definitely see how others might truly love this book

I literally could not put this book down. I finished it in one day. The twists and turns and the lies. I thought the ending was absolutely perfect as well, it just tied everything up in a great way.

This book is like bad tv: you just can't stop reading even though you know it's very unrealistic and kinda bad.
This was my first Robyn Harding and not knowing what to expect, I completely misunderstood what I was in for! I’d assumed this was a book about betrayal - and it is, but there’s so much more than that and this is one creepy, twisty book.
Teenage Low becomes obsessed with gorgeous Freya & her glamorous life with famous husband Max. Low suffers when Freya & Max bond with new friends, Jamie & her husband Brian. But when the idea of a couple swap is raised, things take a dark turn & Low seizes the opportunities available to her. From there, things get wild & creepy!
This book caused quite a few ‘What did I just read??’ moments and the ending left me a bit shook

I love a Robyn Harding novel and once again she has nailed it with The Swap. It is a twisty and addictive story of friendships, betrayal and jealously to the extreme. I could have easily read this in one sitting if I had started it earlier in the evening. I couldn't wait to get back to it and find out how it was all going to play out. And that ending - was not what I was expecting. If you love psychological thrillers, Robyn Harding is an author you need to read.
Low is a socially awkward teenager. She has no friends and lives with her hippy parents (and their partners) on the island. She just does not fit in and keeps to herself. Until she sees newcomer Freya. She is an Instagram influencer from LA who has just moved to the island with her ex hockey player husband for a quiet life. Despite the age different they seem to hit it off when Low attends a pottery class run by Freya. Low becomes obsessed with the woman and will do anything for her. Freya has also friended Jamie and her husband Brian. One night while having a few drinks, Freya suggests a partner swap....and that is where the fun begins.
Thanks to Simon and Schuster Australia for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased.

Low Morrison is not your average teen. So many things in her life can contribute to that. Hippie parents, looming height, or her secluded hometown. She just doesn’t fit.
So, when she signs up for a pottery class with the beautiful , once-famous Freya, it won’t be too bad, right ?
Freya and Low quickly develop a friendship. Maybe you would say , an unhealthy adoration of Freya on Low, almost as she falls in love with Freya. Freya then becomes friends with Jamie and her husband, as does Freya’s husband, and once again Low doesn’t fit.
After a drunken night with the adults that result in swapping partners, Freya and Jamie are faced with some life changing choices. But that also gives the jealous Low a perfect chance to showcase her bitterness.
This book had me alternating between 3 and 4 stars, so I ultimately decided on 3.5 stars. It’s gives you everything! Thrilling, mystery, sex… it actually reads very fast paced and I did enjoy the ending, which I did not see coming. Low’s actions couldn’t have me turning the pages fast enough and me thinking…”What’s going to happen next?”
You know, when you see a car accident, and you can’t just look away? That’s what this psychological thriller was. In the end, I did truly enjoy it.

”She would always, be close to me.”
well that was fucked. poor max, deserved so much better. freya was bat shit crazy and not to mention, low had issues. this whole book was another level of crazy. the ending was satisfactory i must say, worth the binge read. it was very intriguing to read about this kind of open community who were known for being different yet resented others who were ‘too’ out of their comfort zone. plus the stalker and the manipulator aspect was very interesting.
