The Swap

The Swap was a captivating read in an extremely atmospheric setting. I visualized an island full of secrets through the books descriptions - dense forests and fog and little shops and restaurants by the water.

Harding created a vibrant, intriguing set of characters who were relatable in their insecurities and imperfections. Their motivations, secrets, and obsessions drove their ever-changing relationships that in turn drove the story towards its climax. This intense interpersonal drama swept me along as the impact of one wild night irreparably changed and shaped the course of six lives. I enjoyed this book and watching the messy conflict develop and come to a head, though I did feel that Low's obsession with Freya sometimes seemed more unwarrantedly intense and her thoughts somewhat overblown or overreactive, even given her adoration. Definitely a compelling read that I would recommend to lovers of a powerful relationship drama!

Thanks to Gallery/Scout Press and Edelweiss for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I don’t know who was more nucking futs- Freya or Low!

I am sorry to say for me it just didn’t live up to the hype. Bordering on YA fiction with a jealous teenager and a swinging couple it just was too far fetched. Not one of the characters were relatable or likeable.

It was quick reading though which is somewhat redeeming but this is the third of this authors book I have read and the third “meh” so maybe this style of writing is just not for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is a thriller that I read a while ago (8 months ago) and it's a bit forgettable [forgot to even write up a review]. I remember bits and pieces of the storyline but that's about it. This is a decent domestic thriller though and has a lot of wild twists in it. I kind of wish the ending went a different route but I was entertained by this book overall.

I would recommend this to someone who is newer to the mystery/thriller genre and likes a story with a bunch of wild twists.

The Swap ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

SUMMARY:
Low is a high school senior who doesn’t have any friends and doesn’t love being home. Freya and her husband moved to the island and don’t have many friends, and Freya feels especially lonely after her fall from Instagram fame. Low and Freya find each other and an unlikely friendship begins, with some hints of obsession on Low’s end. Until Freya meets Jamie, someone more her age and half of another couple. One night Freya and Jamie swap husbands, and Jamie is unable to move on.

MY THOUGHTS:

-Fast reading ! Easy to read
-Freya remind me of Anne Hathaway in blonde hair
-MPV Multiple point of views
-Ending might NOT satisfying as much as some thriller fan expected
-However..i still think the plot is great & it makes us to follow until the end

3.5/5 (B-) as my personal rate

I was looking forward to reading this book but it disappointed me. It seems that the author's books almost always have unique and intriguing concepts but the execution is not good. In some parts it dragged and were unnecessary. It sometimes felt like I wasn't reading a thriller anymore but a drama. The starting chapters were good and hooked me but the ending chapters were not. Except for the reveal about the test.

Will read more from this author still.

A psychological thriller about obsession at its finest with 5 main characters, all who come with a lot of baggage in a small island!

Song/s the book brought to mind: Addicted by Kelly Clarkson

I finally read a [a:Robyn Harding|344233|Robyn Harding|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1483310153p2/344233.jpg] book guys!! And I loved every minute of it! [b:The Swap|48673052|The Swap|Robyn Harding|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1573919336l/48673052._SY75_.jpg|74187672] was addictive, incredibly quick, and I found the ending to be very satisfying.

If you are into books about toxic relationships and obsession then this is the book for you. I know I have said this about other books, but it definitely applies to The Swap, it was like watching a wreck and not being able to look away. It is full of drama, manipulation, and lies, and you just can't put it down until you see how this ride will end. I didn't find any of the characters to be all that likable although Jamie did come close for me, and I felt bad for Freya's husband Max at times. Low is a wreck in herself, and so many disturbing things are thought by that girl.

I was really impressed by the fast pace of the novel and that made it even harder for me to put down. I managed to speed through The Swap in just a few short hours so this is definitely a one sitting, binge-worthy read. I loved Harding's writing style and I am going to have to stop putting off reading her backlist. The only reason I didn't give this all the stars is because the end didn't really surprise me all that much, although I did let out a slight gasp at one point.

I think that The Swap would make a lovely book to go into blindly so I will stop my review here. Just know, if you are a fan of Harding or even someone just looking for a fast read, I highly recommend this to you!

Thank you to the publisher for my advance review copy via NetGalley. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

3 stars rounded up. This had a ton of potential, but lacked character development to make the motives believable and truly sinister.
