Reznick is back and he's teamed up with the FBI once more. That a bit of an unexpected turn for the character given that he was first introduced as an assassin. Now he's forsaken his full-black operational status to team up with the FBI as a consultant? The transition isn't logical and it's never appropriately explained over the course of the book. It almost feels like Reznick is just going with the flow, even if that flow involves terrorists and counterespionage investigations.
I'm not entirely sure I understand the character's career motivations, but the book makes for a compelling adventure. Bring on book #3!

Hard to not enjoy
Reebok is my mind of man. He deals with everything that is thrown his way. This adventure had me hooked, wondering WTF would happen next.

This was a slow burn.
The plot moved so slow and Jon was sitting around for most of the story. Let's hope the next one is more action-packed.

I am enjoying this series even though there are things with the story that bothers me. For this one, was the first several chapters where Jon is doing surveillance. I am sure for most detectives this is like 90% of the job and I can see why it is needed in a book. I am liking the characters Jon and Martha and the relationship they have in the book series. Also the title of the book definitely fits with the story. I did enjoy #2 more than #1 even with all of the surveillance dialogue.

I received this as a review copy, and I really wanted to like it. However, I really struggled with suspension of disbelief. There is a lot of confusion about which agencies do various types of intelligence and law enforcement work, and I found this really distracting. Pacing is good, plot is fine, but for me, the devil is in the details.
