Meh. Parts were great, but the romance didn’t really land for me. I liked the two MCs well enough, but they were ready to declare eternal love after two days, which is nuts. And all this bs about Deacon knowing Faith and all her triggers and looks after a couple days?! Stupid.
The suspense was better than the romance, but even then, it was occasionally repetitive, and over complicated by too many secondary characters who weren’t even suspects. This is the only book I’ve read by Karen Rose, so maybe the drama with Adam and others is setting up another book? It detracted from this one though.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it was very well written. Full of suspense and twists and turns and Deacon Novak
This book may have had one two many twists and turns for me and may have just been too long.
But I still enjoyed it.

Listened as a audiobook. Easy listen but others have suggested a Karen Rose formula and I don't think I need to listen/ read any others.
Story about a psychologist who returns to her recently inherited childhood home, having changed her name to evade a stalker. But trouble follows her. Romantic lead is an FBI agent with genetically white hair (waaldenberg syndrome) which features in Peter Mays books also.

Closer than you think by Karen Rose, is another perfect combination of romance and suspense from the first page. It features psychologist Faith Sullivan and FBI Agent Deacon Novak. We met Deacon earlier in her series, but this book is definitely a standalone, although the rest of the series is pretty amazing as well.
The opportunity to get to know Deacon was one of the best parts about this book. He was such an enigma, and it was interesting getting to see what made this fierce protector and police officer tick. Faith was a woman still haunted by her past, but I liked the way she was willing to open herself up to this man she did know too well. As always, the mystery and suspense leaves you guessing until the very end, and Karen Rose weaves an interconnected story as only she can. The only issue I had with the book was the sheer length, oftentimes with minute details that made it hard to follow along. Despite that, it was a great book and the perfect addition to the series!

My Review:
This is the first book I've read by Karen Rose, and is the first in a new series featuring Faith Corcoran. It's a fast-paced thriller with plenty of action and suspense, endearing characters and it keeps you guessing. There is also some romance, including some quite graphic sex scenes, but I feel this is a good fit with the mood of the storyline, rather than added simply for the sake of ticking another box.
Faith is a strong female character, which is great. Nothing turns me off a book quicker than a pathetic simpering woman, so Faith is an ideal lead for me.
All the characters in this book are well written, particularly the more striking looking Novaks. There is great attention to detail, making the characters spring to life right off the page.
The twists and turns mostly kept me on my toes, I was able to guess what was going to happen on a couple of occasions, hence the slightly less than perfect rating. I do read an awful lot of books of this genre, so I'm not convinced your average reader would be unsurprised by how the storyline evolves.
A thoroughly compulsive read; I'll definitely be taking a look at other novels by Karen Rose.
