I can't lie, I enjoyed this book despite its problematic nature and weak ass ending, I was not rooting for a HEA though

Disgusting, in my opinion. And it’s not even because of the taboo relationship with her uncle or cousin. What really bothered me was the way sexual assault is portrayed as almost normal, which I found uncomfortable. On top of that, the way women are spoken about in this book was off-putting and, honestly, just gross.

This is my first book by Penelope Douglas and I don’t think it will be my last. But this was different to what I expected but a good different I think?
I loved the whole atmosphere they created, the tension and the distinct characters. I feel like so often in new adult romance the love interests are so similar and just like a copy and paste over and over again but I didn't find that in this book.
I just didn’t love the ending it was really long winded and I also don’t love it when an author has an epilogue which is like 5 years later or whatever and then it is all happy and adds nothing to the book in my opinion.
But honestly this is not for everyone there were quite a few times actually where I was like
