Such a great story, it’s much too short! I want more about this school, more about the different worlds. Glad this is a series!

I love this freaky little series. I read Book #2 first a few months ago, so I had to go back and read the first novella. Short and sweet, but McGuire chooses her words carefully, which I love. I wish more fantasy novelists would read this and learn to use words more determinedly. I was able to download an advance readers copy of Book #3, so that's on my To Read list for Christmas break. Can't wait!

[9/10] [audiobook]
Do not be fooled by the length of this novel. It packs a punch. I went into this knowing nothing about it other than the fact that I had enjoyed other Seanan McGuire novels in the past, and this one did not disappoint. What happens when the children who go through doorways return? What happens if someone becomes so desperate to find a key, even if the door is firmly bolted shut? This exploration of childhoods lost and regained, of becoming yourself despite the fact you are no longer who you were, was a delightful listen.
