The first chapter or so I wasn't really hooked and then all of a sudden I was super invested.

How I described it to my friends:

This book is so weird. Fantasy, but modern, cute, but poignant, AND murder mystery.

My rating system: 

  • 5: ❤️  I loved reading it. I want it on my bookshelf to read again and loan to friends. If there is a sequel, I'll definitely read it. 
  • 4: 👍  I enjoyed it enough to recommend it to others. I'll most likely read any sequels. 
  • 3: 🤷‍♀️  It was fine. I'm not upset I read it but it wasn't amazing. 
  • 2: 👎  Not worth the time it took to read it. Something made me finish it (curiosity or book club) but I wasn't happy about it. 
  • 1: ❌  Hot garbage. I finished it out of pure spite.
