I am not sure why it has taken me so long to read this book as I am a huge fan of Stephen King's but I am so glad I finally got around to it. Carrie is one of his best works and I did not want to put it down. I loved the way it was written and my heart just went out to Carrie in so many ways. If you are a fan of Stephen King then you really need to read this book.

I know it's a classic horror story, but I read it as a coming-of-age story...where the protagonist just happens to have telekinetic powers. Kids can be mean, but a little empathy and compassion can go a long way. Poor Carrie.

This book is about the horrors of girlhood. It’s written as a collective source analysis of what happened in Maine and the implications of a scientific discovery.  It intrigues you every step of the way as the plot itself catches up with what you already know from the news and survivor stories. 

There’s a momentous sadness when you read about -what can only be described as -the abusive life of this girl who only wanted to be normal , when her mother  at every step of the way bearded her for not being it.
