imho this was the best of the series! (i may have taken an entire star off for the changing perspectives during the sex scene.) it was dark and gory but held hope in the end. i choose to believe that mara and noah end up parting a la jem and tessa. :)
Love love LOVE this trilogy. Reminded me of the Shatter Me trilogy a bit (which I didn't mind) and I absolutely enjoyed all three books. I was also very satisfied with the ending personally
3.5ish/5 stars... maybe??
I should probably be waiting to rate this until I know for sure how I feel about this book. I'm very... unsure? at this moment.
I do know that I waited a long time for this book. I do know that I was so, so excited to read it. And I also know that it started off very promising.
I'm just not feeling... certain things. *sigh*

There were definitely loose ends and plots that have yet to be concluded. Maybe we might see them in The Shaw Confessions.
I would say that The Evolution Of Mara Dyer was the strongest book out the trilogy but The Retribution Of Mara Dyer does end the trilogy well.
I love how you start off the trilogy with an idea in your head of how the trilogy will end, but as the series went on your idea becomes more and more incorrect. Michelle Hodkin really left the reader as clueless as Mara was in the series. Which I praise cause it really takes you on the journey along with the characters.
4.25/5

Honestly, I gave this book 4 stars at first because I am impulsive. Lol. When I thought about it as the days passed, I've been figured it out that Retribution wasn't satisfying, at least for me. I don't want to think that this was boring but I guess it was. Yes, it was. I remember my uneasiness. I just pushed through because it's one of my favorite trilogies out there. I love its mystery, suspense and the horror on the first two books. I love the creeps it gave to me. Now, the creepiness, mystery, suspense and whatnot has gone in the wind. Maybe there still are but they didn't affect me so much like the way the first two books did.
Oftentimes, the last book answers most questions in your mind about the mystery. Fret no more since the Retribution did the same. Yeah, well, why Mara and others had these powers wasn't convincing for me. The explanations were fine but I didn't like what I get. And it's kinda forced even it was supported by back stories. And more questions piled up in my mind. Loose ends. Loose ends.
Anyway, this was disturbing among the three books with all the shits happened to Mara and the shits she made. There are scenes that my stomach twisted and scenes I almost skipped. I can't even. I like Mara on those scenes but I got cranky towards her when she always think about Noah, whine about Noah. For chrissake Mara, just stop. I'm so annoyed with her. Lucky, that Jamie was there to give me some laughs with his funny dialogues and comments.
All in all, I still like this book but it is more of okay.
"Taste the rainbow, bitch!"

I loved it from start to finish. Michelle hodkin leaves you with no unanswered questions in the book that starts out with so many. All the love goes out to this series
It has been over 6 years since I originally read this series. It still leaves me without words. I love this story so much.
Now.. I have ordered the companion series but have no clue if I will read it. I may want to leave this world in the perfect state that it currently is..
