I read #ZoraBooksHerHappyEverAfter a few weeks ago and loved it. Besides the fact that it's set in a bookstore, one of my favorite settings, this contemporary romance hits all of the right notes. Charming characters, compelling plotlines, and plenty of tantalizing spicy bits. Spot on perfect for contemporary romance fans.

This is a really fun story that celebrates book lovers as well as my home city of DC, so I really enjoyed it. Love triangles aren't generally my thing, and it is a major part of this romance, but I liked the story overall and Zora's journey throughout it. And I love how the side characters, the setting, and the simple everyday conversations make everything come alive. I loved all of those details even more than the romance. It's definitely a story that I think many will find relatable, and it celebrates Black love and joy in a way I appreciated.

I did not like the fact that I already figured out what was going on on page 93 but nevertheless I still enjoyed this book and I'm in love with Reid❤️.

Zora isn’t necessarily looking for romance, not when she’s trying to build her empire and empower her community. But her close circle can’t wait for her to find the right man for her.
An unexpected love triangle with added spicy content, this book was so good from start to finish! I loved the indie bookstore representation, the black community power flowing through, and the cute humor that played throughout the book!

I was more horny for the food in this book than the men tbh.
I guessed the twist as soon as Reid spoke so perhaps that's why I never warmed to Lawrence and why this book felt very slow/meandering whilst I was waiting for Zora to catch up.
I also just didn't buy her struggling to choose between these 2 men when clearly she like Reid more, and the only turmoil about him was that he was in a bad mood when they met. Except for when we got tothe NDA, and she couldn't get over that he never told her his secret. Girl it's AN NDA, and he's known you for a couple weeks. Get a grip! So the conflict was just nonsense to me, especially when there was actual conflict with Lawrence! I did not feel the chemistry (despite the author trying to tell me it was there) and I just thought he sucked! He was chauvinistic, lavished gifts and riches instead of curating experiences like Reid, selfish in bed, constantly double booking/canceling plans, and I knew from the start he wasn't writing his own books so that didn't help me either.
Despite all this the book was still enjoyable, and I did enjoy the writer's descriptive style - not so much the wooden dialogue though.

Among its other probs, way too much tell and not enough show, dialogue is so unnaturally written, and Granny Marion can stay in the damn guest house
