Zora Books Her Happy Ever After

I Picked Up This Book Because: Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: BC Public Library
Dates Read: 8/2/24 - 8/5/24
Rating: DNF - No Rating
Narrator(s): Adenrele Ojo

The Characters:

Zora:
Reid:
Lawrence:
Emma, Grandma

The Story:
Other than the annoying grandmother I can’t really point out a reason I don’t want to finish this book. I’m just not interested in 98% of what is happening. I got my answer about the other 2% from someone else’s review.

Boring and predictable. It’s so frustrating to watch this supposedly super smart protagonist not realize what’s going on in front of her. The book doesn’t have super strong structure, either, so when you’re not rolling your eyes at the main character, you’re sighing over how boring the story is. I think the author might have been better off writing a reimagining of Sherlock with Zora as the main character, or even a period piece like Bridgeton. That way, there would have been a clearer plot structure for this book to follow, rather than just Zora going on dates and planning for an event. The romance isn’t compelling, either, since
Zora continues to date both men until the very end.
And don’t even get me started on the cheesy poetry.
