I thought this was boring and I don’t know why it was written.

Autofiction novel that is not so subtly about working on the Obama campaign is '08, but is truly about art, life, coming of age. I enjoyed it.

Awkwardly straddles the dual purpose of bildungsroman and political tell all, ultimately underserving both.

Read like a memoir/series of personal essays. The writing was nice but felt very blase, like the author really didn’t care one way or another what happened to the main character. The blase nail in the coffin was when Beverly started showing up on the news for a potential indictment and he didn’t call her or even bother to reminisce about how this women had made his career and whose actions clearly showed an emotional attachment to him. It was weird.

It was another one of those books that wasn’t quite bad enough for me to DNF it. I kept thinking it would get better.
