4.5/5⭐️1.75/5🌶️ This are is Pirates of the Caribbean but Elisabeth is also a pirate and there really isn’t a Jack Sparrow and Orlando bloom is a 6.5ish morally gray Pirate who’s eyes glow in the dark and he may be immortality the speech from Braveheart …. not really for sluts but they can read it lol. It’s only a 4.5 ⭐️ because she uses all of my least favorite words for body parts

Book Review: Of Stars and Sea by Brianna Remus
4⭐️: I was a lucky chosen to get a digital Arc. The premise was The Mummy meets Pirates of the Caribbean. Rowenya a feisty mid 30’s FMC meets the mysterious Grayson in a Romantasy enemies to lovers who both are pirates in search of the same treasure . This is a slow burn with mid spice. The banter in this book is (chef’s kiss) and very on point and well as the treasure hunt from the mummy. The world building and writing is find very lyrical and giving the details needed but not overwhelming.

“ A pretty dream clocked in wretched darkness. There will be a time when that darkness sweeps in, reveling the truth of what game you’re playing”

It started off strong with a fast paced set up and wonderful side characters that makes you itch for more information about them. Just like the wind in the sail it does lose its steam in the middle but then picks right up with pirate fights, cannons and buried treasure. Just to be fowarn it does end in a cliffhanger 😥. Look foward to see how the series continues. Release day July 10 in KU!

A few of my favourite quotes aka swoon worthy:

“I have waited a thousand lifetimes for this. Our story doesn’t end here”

“Beautiful, yes. but it holds no candle to you, Little Pearl”

Pirates, daring treasure hunts, epic battles—this was such a fun adventure! I especially loved Tommy—his friendship with Rowenya was absolutely adorable and honestly one of my favorite parts.

I was a little bummed we didn’t get more of Amara and Wells since they seemed like they were going to be big parts of the story, but they kind of disappeared along the way. Also, I wasn’t really a fan of Captain Grayson calling Rowenya “Little Pearl” the whole time—it felt a little condescending to me. He kept saying he’d “waited so long for her,” but we never really find out why. Same with her dad’s story and how she ended up owing Red Beard—those pieces felt like big question marks that never got answered.

And look, I love a good romance, but this one moved fast. Like, she went from “he’s the most feared pirate ever” to “we’re destined to be together” in what felt like a blink, and we never really addressed all the terrible things he’d supposedly done. I just wanted to know more about why Grayson chose her in the first place.

Also—small thing—but what happened with the note she left with Harrick for Amara and Wells? It just kind of vanished from the story.

All in all, I still had a great time with this book—it just needed a bit more depth in a few places for me.

Happy reading, matey! 🏴‍☠️⚓️

I was honored to receive an ARC. Highlight for me was world building - what a cool world, with lots of fun pirate vibes! Everything else didn’t work well for me, especially the lack of editing. I almost DNFed multiple times due to ongoing poor editing throughout. (Yes I understand it was a digital ARC, but it was communicated to the readers that it was complete and wouldn’t be going through any more edits.)

Thank you to Brianna Remus for providing me with a copy of the book.  I am excited to leave a review.

Of the Stars and Sea is book 1 of The Divine Trinity series.  I loved Rowenya as an FMC as she is older (in her 30s) and she fiercely cares for her crew despite not being with them on her ship.  She has an amazing heart for those around her and bears the weight of burdens forced on her with tenderness and ferocity.

Grayson is brutal and fierce but we see a tender and caring side of him as the story unfolds.  The relationship between Rowenya and Grayson is full of witty banter and tension as Rowenya is comes to terms with working with Grayson.

The premise of the story is unique and is engaging.  I look forward to reading more about these characters in future books.

[I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.]

I wasn't sure if this one was going to be the type of book I enjoyed at first. It's my first pirate romantasy novel ever. I didn't really connect with any of the main characters, unfortunately 😕 I also felt some plot lines went by way too quickly.  Like how do you fall I love with someone so fast. I wish the love aspect wasn't rushed.

4.5⭐️
I have loved everything Brianna Remus has ever released and I think this has just become my favorite of hers! Those who know me know how much I love pirates of the Caribbean so when Brianna announced a new book with pirates I knew I was gonna like it. I ate this up, I could not sit this book down. The tension, slow burn, rivals to lovers, touch her & d*e plus all the stuff people love about pirates, the sailing, the fighting, the rum, and so much more.
Be warned this does end on a cliffhanger so be ready for that! I literally screamed when I got to the end and I cannot wait for the next book. This cliffhanger will have you BEGGING for book 2 immediately and wanting more. I’m so excited to get my hands on a physical copy this weekend to reread and highlight all my fav quotes. I cannot wait to learn more about Grayson in the next book and fall even more in love with him. Thank you so much Brianna Remus for this incredible ARC!

I was hooked from the beginning. If you love pirates and searching for treasure, this is it. The descriptions really let you see the physical and feel the emotional environments. Feisty, stabby FMC. Morally grey, brutal MMC. I related to Rowenya so much. Touch her and die vibes. The tension and banter were epic. The longing. Oh my gosh. Pirates of the Caribbean and The mummy vibes. I can’t wait to learn more about the ancient lore. That cliffhanger made me want the next book now. Grayson is up there with Xaden. Thank you so so much, Brianna Remus, for providing a copy of this book.

Thank you Brianna Remus for sending me an eARC for “Of the Stars and Sea.”

Before I even get started on this review, I just want to mention how absolutely breathtaking the cover for this book is! I’m not typically one to get sucked in by a book cover, but sometimes they’re just too beautiful not to!

Have you been searching for your next pirate romance story? Maybe with some stabbing and slashing involved? Or maybe you want an epic treasure hunt where the rival captains have to work together….closely? Well, “Of the Stars and Sea” by Brianna Remus needs to be your next read! This book was fun, adventurous, treacherous, and a little bit spicy as well. We follow Rowenya and Grayson as they are searching for a legendary treasure to finally accomplish the different missions both have been on most of their lives. They end up having to work together to figure out the clues and to try and stay alive.

First off, the writing was really well done. I appreciated that there wasn’t an overwhelming “Aye’s” and “Argh’s” as happens with a lot of pirate novels. There was just the right amount of pirate lingo mixed with ship lingo and then just normal conversation. (Mind you with a LOT of cursing considering they are all pirates). Remus also did a good job at portraying some of the worst things going on without giving us the explicit details. I appreciate an author who can do this.

There wasn’t a huge map with this story (at least not of land), but I was able to picture the areas that they traversed in the story well. We also got quite a bit of sea travel which I feel is so important when writing a novel about something as sea heavy as pirates. And the characters were all relatable, but  also had their own personalities as well that blended with the story. And the female main character, Rowenya, has the spunk that many of us readers have come to love.

“Of the Stars and Sea” by Brianna Remus should definitely be the next book you read if you love pirate stories. As I mentioned before, there is a lot of cursing so I’d recommend it for adult audiences. Also, there are open door bedroom scenes (although mild, still descriptive). The banter is phenomenal and the cliffhanger we were left with was absolutely perfect (even though it now makes me want the second book immediately).
