Harper is dealing with grief and with the struggling of moving forward. Brandon is fighting off the demons and lurking in the shadows trying to help Harper in his best way of giving her the life and waiting for his day to reveal himself. This is a very heartbreaking story that will have you feeling the emotions from this story that has many twists and plot changes. This is dark bully read.

Brandon is a broken man.
Harper is a broken woman.
It all began with a huge misunderstanding, lots of hate and grief.

Brandon’s story is heartbreaking. He suffered through so much.
All he demonstrates to Harper was very emotional for me.

Brandon Mathers is the epitome of a bad boy who doesn’t care what others think and isn’t afraid to let them know exactly how he feels. He is loyal to his best mates, the other Renaissance Men, and would do anything for them, that was until he thought they all abandoned him. From the ending of Renegade Hearts, I knew my heart was in for one h3ll of a ride and I was not wrong. Brandon is hotheaded and there are times when his anger blinds him, sending him on a rage, but deep down there is also a broken soul just wanting to be loved.
When his life seems to have completely imploded, he is left all alone hiding in the shadows watching as everyone else moves forward in their lives while he is stuck with pain and anger. My heart bled for Brandon because even though at times he flew off the handle or said things that could be harsh, I just knew he was masking his own pain and fears. When a tragic event sent him running, he found a new obsession other than fighting that kept him from going off the deep end and it came in the form of Harper.
Harper and Brandon’s path intersects in more than one way and even though they start as enemies they have a lot in common, but the pain they carry at the top of that list. Harper struggles with her grief and it is slowly eating away at the person she was creating a monster of revenge. She is determined to clear some things up but when things are brought to light will it be Brandon that brings her out of the darkness, or will he be her ultimate downfall?
This book packed a lot of punch in the emotions watching as two characters struggle with inner demons that eat away at the core of them. It also carries a bit of suspense that has twists coming out of left field that had me shocked. In Renegade Hearts I stated that I read the books all out of order and I did except I read this one after RH and I didn’t hate any characters as much in this one as I did in book 1, but at times I found Harper a struggle to tolerate. I understood her pain and process for grieving yet there were times she irritated me. I still love these characters and their stories; Brandon definitely deserves all the love.

Tortured Souls by Nikki J Summers is a new adult romance and the second instalment in the Rebels of Sandland series.

The book does come with a warning "It contains situations of a violent and sexual nature. Therefore, it is only suitable for readers 18 years+."

I absolutely love Nikki's books! She does an amazing job pulling you into the story and making you feel the characters emotions. Harper and Brandon's story took me on an emotional roller coaster. I really enjoyed that we got Harper and Brandon's points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait for Finn's Story that will be released in early 2021.

This book was AMAZING! Top 2020 Read for me and I would highly recommend if you love new adult romances, sports romances, or romantic suspense.

I listed to Tortured Souls on audible.

Revenge and grief fuel this story. Harper is struggling with the loss of her twin brother. When her brothers death gets ruled as an accident, she seeks revenge for his passing. Brandon is out for revenge for the past but one person stands in his way, and that is Harper. Brandon is a Bare Knuckle Boxer who's sick of hiding. They both set out to get the truth but start to fall for each other. In time the truth comes out.

I give this story a 3 out 5 stars and the spice 2 out 5. The story was interesting but at times it would become dull. The twist to the story was unexpected but unfulfilling, leaving you craving for more. The story overall seemed more like a setup for the next one.

Sandland Bad Boys

Love the rebels of sandland! They’re bad boys who are fighting for the good. Brandon and Harper’s story is my favorite so far, I loved how they went from enemies to lovers. The flow of Nikki’s writing is incredible and the stories are so creative.

This is the second book in the Rebels of Sandland series by @nikkijsummersauthor except this time the book Is focused on Brandon and Harper. After the first book ended with such a bang I couldn't wait to get to Brandon's story, see if he managed to sway my opinion of him (spoiler alert, he did)

I saw a whole different side to Brandon this time around and I couldn't help but love him, he's definitely one of those tough exterior but soft on the inside kinda guy and his past obviously has him so broken, it really broke my heart for him :(

Once again this book was filled with drama, so much steam and plot twists, I just couldn't put it down. Nikki has a way of writing such captivating books and I think I need to take a break before I read Finn's story... My family are feeling neglected

I loved this book. I knew that Brandon’s story was going to be rough. It was heartbreaking to read all of what he went through, but so worth it. The author has a way of writing that draws you in instantly. Now I’m over here dying for Finn’s story. Can’t wait.
