Can't remember when I read this, but it was okay.
What Jane did to get pregnant was a little unethical / creepy, I thought.

I re-read this book, AGAIN. And it's still as magical as the first time I read it ♥ I love Jane and ANNIE is the real deal lol ♥
This book was ridiculous? Honestly the entire premise was absurd and frankly offensive (I mean, reproductive coercion is not a joke).
AND YET.
Somehow Phillips's light, funny writing style kept me reading. I consistently laughed out loud while reading this. Cal & Jane were (aside from some early character inconsistency) both wonderful, delightful characters, and their dynamic was great. The secondary characters had depth and charm. I raced through this book, and already picked up a second Phillips book.
To sum up: I wish she could have created the scenario in a slightly different fashion, because I'm pretty uncomfortable with birth control sabotage, but I really enjoyed the characters and the writing. Loses at least a full star for tricking someone into pregnancy.

Como en la mayoría de los libros de SEP las protagonistas femeninas son lo que más me ha gustado del libro, por alguna razón los protas masculinos no terminan de convencerme, eso si, Cal me ha gustado más que Bobby Tom. Mención honorífica a Amber Lynn, no te merecemos❤
Although the second half of the book was more fun than the first, and I enjoyed the banter between Cal and Jane, I never really warmed to Jane. I found her tedious in the first half of the book, and she only barely managed likable in the second half. I almost gave up on her again near the end when her pigheadedness went on a few too many pages for me. The repetitive conversations between her and Cal got to be tiresome. Honestly, there really wasn't much meat to this story, and I felt SEP padded it with several scenes between Cal and Jane that were basically replays of earlier scenes. The secondary story about Cal's parents was very well-done and more compelling for me in some ways.
On the positive side, there was some very funny dialog in the book, including the scene in the hardware store, which was SEP at her best. I didn't like the secondary characters in the first part of the book, but loved Cal's family and enjoyed Kevin Tucker. I also, believe it or not, loved the last chapter or epilogue, or whatever it was. I thought it was well done, and it makes me wonder if that, along with the hardware store scene, isn't the reason so many people finish this book with such a positive feeling. ;-)
Anna Fields is an excellent narrator.

Re-read required to confirm if this still belongs on my top tier list... but I am confident that it will stay just based on the strength of Cal's parents' story alone.
This book is older than I am and is still better than 99% of the contemporary romances I've read.
With one of the wackiest premises, there were so many ways this story of a marriage-of-convenience could have gone wrong. But WOW was I surprised at how well this held up.
The development in Jane and Cal's relationship from a true enemies-to-lovers was SO good. I'm not a fan of marriages of convenience for often, they feel contrived and cheesy. However, this is one of the few exceptions where the author managed to execute this (rather tired) trope BEAUTIFULLY. Their BANTER and CHEMISTRY WERE TOP NOTCH I've actually laughed out loud several times throughout the story. The swoons I had from Cal's grovel was JUST

I can't remember what list of recommended romances I found this on but I wish I remembered because this...clearly didn't age well. It's weird and sexist and awful.
Odlična. Baš sam se smejala i uživala čitajući Calova i Janeina međusobna podbadanja i duhovite dijaloge.
Ovo je jedna bolja od boljih knjiga S.E.Phillips. :)

4.5 stars. I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ writing. I can’t help but giggle even in the middle of characters being ridiculous or downright terrible. There’s just something so real in the midst of the bizarre behavior that just gets me every time. I’ve read this book three times now? And just plain enjoyed every minute. Plus, the narrator does a great job.
