Even though Ever is retarded, I still love this book.

The main thing that bothers me is that Ever is such an awful heroine. She is always making poor, impulsive decisions without thinking about them first. This would be okay if she actually learned from her mistakes, making her a better person overall, but she does not.

Great book, that I couldn't put down.

I can't even begin to express how horrible the writing is in this series. It's like Twilight and Fallen were smashed together and this is what came out of it. I thought I learned my lesson after the first one but, like the sap that I am, I thought that I'd give it one more chance. Bad idea. If you're 10 I'm sure you'll enjoy this because the standards are lower for children's fiction.

Another wishy-washy edition of The Immortals.
The first one was forgettable. The second one is slightly less so. The series is slowly finding its own stride, but it continues to graze the surface when it should be taking the plunge. The most, if not the only, powerful moment in the book was the encounter between Ever and Damen the Monday morning after he left her stranded. I may have even experienced a tiny hitch in my breath. With the good guy acting like the bad guy and the bad guy acting like the best guy, the stage is definitely set for some interesting scenes. However, the author chooses to focus more on the fascinatingly dull Summerland and even duller Ava. Any opportunity at spicing up the storyline, either by catching a glimpse at Ever's previous lives with Damen, or sending her spiraling into her own past, are either never realized or way too brief. Add in the fact that the ending was just plain ridiculous, with Ever's idiocy cranked up full steam and Roman's "evil twist" leaving me with my face in my palm instead of desperate for the next installment, and it's obvious these books are simply mediocre.
The story is entertaining enough, but the unreached potential was driving me a little nuts.

This one really made me mad. The entire time she knows Roman is bad and to not trust him but decides to randomly trust him with the anecdote. Instead of trusting the twin that has helped her? Even with her being 16 you’d think she could figure that one out.

Either way, still an interesting concept. Definitely for teenagers.

I wanted to slap everybody in this book lol But the last part manages to save the book ;o)
