I'm sorry. I just can't do this anymore, and i'd love to say it's me but after two solid attempts at reading this years apart i'm starting to think this is all on you. I hate to DNF books especially ones by an author i love so much.

I'm not saying i won't give this another chance but at this moment in time, it's taking me to slumpsville so i'm going to have to say ciao for now.

How far i made it...

Way too long. I enjoyed the world and set up. The lying parts were awful though and not enough dragons.

Finnie just wants to see her parents one more time since the parents of her world passed away years before. She works out a deal with a witch to switch places with her alternate self so that she gets that chance, only to find herself moments away from marrying Frey Drakkar.

Frey Drakkar made for a great alpha hero. He did have a couple of douchey moments, but I easily forgave him and he's gone into my group of favorite Alpha's. I love the idea of traveling between worlds and taking over your alternate self. The imagery of this world and all the mischief Finnie got into made this book a fun read.

I'm kind of wavering between a three and four star rating on this one, but decided to round up because I do enjoy the world Ashley created in this series. There were a lot of good ideas in here, and it was imaginative enough to keep me interested throughout. I also liked Finnie because she wasn't whiny or super naive. However, she certainly overuses the terms "cool" and "awesome". Someone get this girl a thesaurus! It's hard to believe she's supposed to be near 30 because she speaks like a girl half her age.

Frey, I'm a little more meh about. He had his sweet moments, but sometimes he would be totally dickish. It was written off as it just being his "culture", and Finnie would cave in and forgive him.

My biggest gripe, though, is that this book needs a better editor! Where are the commas? I swear there are at least 1,000 commas missing from this book that desperately need to be returned. And I don't think there's a run-on sentence alive that the author doesn't love because the book is full of them. Sometimes it's really hard to understand what is going on because you need to work hard to decode what is being said.

So bad on so many levels. If I were the main character, I'd run for the hills.

love the way the characters communicate, and the overall feel of this book. if you have read Kristen Ashley before it is very reminiscent of the Colorado Mountain series, although I can't remember exactly which couple. Still super good although at minor times I also find Frey's (understandingly) domineering way annoying.

Overall a likeable book, but it went on a little too long, and I feel like some of the dialogue and descriptions were a bit repetitive, and I wanted more answers about what was happening to Sjofin in our world. Definitely set up for a sequel at the end, but I think the second book focuses on a more southern land? Will continue with this series.

It's one of my favorite fantasy romance books. I have reread it over the years and still love it. There are some twists and turns that may or may not make you cry. It is one of those books that if I could read it for the first time again I would.

I was very interested when I read the description of this book but in the end disappointed. The writing was horrible. There were pages and pages of descriptions of the scenery and clothing that was unnecessary. The main character who is supposed to be 30?? Ho boy! Has the vocabulary and reactions of a 13 year old. The overuse of certain phrases and parenthesis is distracting. The fact that Frey is a controlling brute is glossed over by the fact that he's handsome and good in bed, not cool ;) I also didn't like that we got no information on the other twin and how she was faring in Finnie's world.

I am surprised I actually finished this book due to the writing but I did like the story. I wish there would have been an epilogue to really finish the book but maybe we'll see these characters in future books. Hopefully future installments are edited better. I'll give book two a chance
