Read this ages ago, and now I'm re-reading and have to change my rating. I liked this? A lot? What was I thinking? Actually, I tend to score high when a book has an emotional impact on me. However, the touching scenes that got to my sappy old heart were the ones between Finnie and her "parents " and her friends, even her cat. Scenes with the husband boy evoke an emotion, but it's not a good one. I can't stand him, not even a little bit, not at all.
4.5 stars!!

OH. MY. GOD!! This book...this book lived up to all the hype and you cannot even begin to understand how happy I am right now. From the first page, I was HOOKED. I could not stop reading, I literally spent the whole day just reading this book and let me tell you, this book is long! My kindle said it finished at 670 pages which is over 100 more pages than what is indicated on Amazon but I don't even care.
I've read many of Kristen Ashley's books and I've loved them all. But for some reason, I never really planned on reading her fantasy or paranormal series. If I'm being completely honest, the covers just didn't catch my attention. But also, I didn't think I would like it. I love her MC romance and her other series but fantasy? Yeah I wasn't sure she could do it. Well I'm here to say:

Why did I ever doubt her?! It wasn't until recently that I kept seeing this series show up on my newsfeed and once again hearing so much praise that I decided I'd give this series a chance. I need to thank ever single one of my Goodreads friends who has read this and showed so much enthusiasm for the series because without you I would have been the moron to never read this book.
So, now that we've got that out of the way onto the actual story.

Finnie has always been one to live life to the fullest, something she got from her parents. But sadly, they died when she was young and she's missed them every day since. So when she finds out that there is an alternate world where everyone has a twin, where twin copies of her parens live, she jumps at the offer to go. Little does she know that the world she gets switched into is one unlike anything she's ever imagined. And in this world, apparently she is a princess who is getting married to a scary ass Viking. She hardly gets a moment to breathe in the air before she whisked away to marry this guy who dislikes Finnie for reasons unknown to her. And thus, begins their story.
I am so in love with the world that Kristen Ashley has created! It is unlike anything I've ever read and it literally felt like that world was becoming alive through her words. As I mentioned before, this book is super long and it has all of the classic KA writing style that I both love and hate. I LOVE KA writing but the amount of details and run-on sentences sometimes caused my eyes to glaze over and lose interest just a little bit. But luckily this book always seemed to have something going on and there was never a dull moment. I've read some of KA published books and I've got to say, I prefer her self-publsihed books 1000x's more.
Frey is one of my favorite kind of KA Alpha Male but that's not to say he didn't piss me off at times. Oh boy, did he. Frey is not perfect and he does some stuff that made me want to punch him. I don't always agree with his decisions but I also had to take in the fact that they're both from different worlds, and as such, live by different rules. Things that don't fly in our world are quite the opposite in his. They had to learn each other's boundaries and it took time but eventually they get on track and I was swooning over Frey like crazy.
"I'll never stop loving you, my winter bride. Not ever. You, everything about you is beyond my wildest dreams."

Action, romance, death, and of course some comic relief, this book has a little bit of everything that makes a perfect book. I'm so excited to continue with this series and I already know the moment I finish this review I'm going to jump to read the second book. I'm running on a KA high right now and I can only pray that I'll be on it for the remainder of the series.

I listened to the audio book via Audible.
No. Just no. At first i had enjoyed this book (just the first few chapters anyway). I thought the story would get better and be filled with adventure and a powerful female lead. I was proven wrong very early on. This book is demeaning, degrading, sexist and homophobic. It annoyed me to the point i wanted to punch a wall.
I had thought the main character would grow more bold and brave, however all she ever said was "i'm sorry baby" (for wanting to make her own decisions), "oh my sweet husband" (after he makes decisions on her behalf and tells her he is a man and it's his right).
I just couldn't take it. It was so horrible and ruined my mood every time i listened to it. Will not be continuing this series.
1/5 Stars (Mostly cause i like the idea of the story & world)

Spoilers below:
FMC goes to a parallel world, inhabits her 'twin's' body, is immediately married to a guy, guy finds out she's not who he thinks she is, they fall in love, all of that is fine.
But her mother in the other world told FMC (knowing it's her and not her daughter) that she needs to put out so her husband doesn't stray.
Husband (MMC) has also used magic to stop FMC from going back to her world and hasn't told her about it.
At 74%, MMC has just fucked with FMC's birth control equivalent in that world, again without telling her about it or consulting her, and it's the last straw for me.

If I ever heard a 30 year old woman say “holy freaking moly” I’d lose my mind. This book had it on every frickin page and I did indeed lose my mind
Poorly written with lots of info dumps, "two months later" etc. as lazy transitions, and "holy molys" to express surprise. Quite grating to read.
Also, messing with someone's birth control without their knowledge to get them pregnant isn't romantic, it's domestic violence!

Just to be clear : a homophobic man who threatens to rape you daily, frightens you, forces you to touch him even though you clearly asked to be left alone, and who controls major aspects of your life is not attractive, no matter how "hot" he is.
This story was frightening and disgusting.
