listen. i truly enjoyed the sapphic romance part but all throughout the book i kept expecting them to finally acknowledge the fact that
the king's goal was BAD and then do something to fight against his colonialist kingdom but then the villain turns out to be the only one doing that and dies for it. even worse, lorelei ends up working for him instead like huhhhh? so disappointing because the cover was gorgeous and the premise is interesting but the messaging is very meh. did not like how the politics were handled and i HATE the ending. felt very pro-colonialist and pro-imperialist indeed :/

dnf. not anything wrong w the writing style or vibes per se, but it wasn't my jam and my tbr is way too big for me to be trudging through books i dont care about. i think there were too many characters for me to keep up with (esp on audiobook) and i def shouldve read the description and not just the booktok synopses lol
