Another day, another queer romance novel!

I love reading about queer relationships, but I'm still not a big enough fan of the romance genre in general to rate this very highly. All my complaints about this book are just aspects of the romance genre, which are not bad in and of themselves, just not my own preference. As with most romance that I've read, this is a fun read that looks at some deeper themes while keeping everything neatly packaged and mildly unrealistic.

“Life would be a lot better if we all spent a little more time staring at the stars.”

"...what a feeling it must be, being loved by someone else exactly as you are, quirks and warts and all."

I found this romance to be quite adorable. I loved that the development of the main characters was front and center. I instantly loved Elle but struggled to like Darcy right away. By the end, though, I felt like I connected the most with Darcy. It had some great tropes! Enemies to lovers and fake dating - so fun! It's also a Pride & Prejudice retelling. I hadn't realized that as I was reading but thinking back on it, it's quite obvious. I mean, the main characters are literally named Elizabeth and Darcy! I can't believe I missed that! The steam was also very good. Definitely 18+.

My major critique was that it may have been just a touch too long. It seemed to drag near the end. The mom characters fell a bit flat for me, as well. But I will still be picking up the other novels in this series.

I am loving that more and more queer romance stories are going mainstream lately. I hope it continues and I hope to see more variety in the future.

This book was a good time. I related in different ways to both Elle and Darcy. From the start, I didn't get the sense that they really disliked each other. Their attraction to each other was there from the get-go, so the obstacles in their love story were all circumstantial or made by themselves.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. A part of me wishes that the angst was a bit more pointed or drawn out, but that is entirely my own preference. I am a sucker for messy emotions and the ones in this book were clean cut.

Would recommend this book to others.
