Hilarious voice. Great characterization in this piece. I'm having laugh out loud moments, highlighting phrases, dog-earing pages. What a hoot! And the humor is dry, it's just slipped in like a slim blade and the next thing you know you're smiling.
Oh My God! Why did I put off this series? I don't know and I'm certainly beating myself up for this... I loved this story from the first page. Usually I struggle a bit when I first begin a book, but this one hooked me in right away...Where can I get my own Frey Drakkar? I loved him, every minute. And Finnie? definitely one of the best KA heroines I've read... I hope I read more of them in the upcoming books... and I won't say more because this is the kind of story you don't share even a little bit, it was that fantastic!
LOVED! Kristen Ashley needs to write more fantasy romance.
First Read 2013 rating: 5 stars
Second time reading: 4 stars
Kristen Ashley is a hit or miss author for me. I started reading her works with Wildest Dreams and the Fantasyland series and LOVED the first two. It’s been six years since my first go with KA and while I did knock down my rating by one star this go around I am still in love with the plot, world building, and beautifully and vibrant descriptions in this book.
Finny our main Lady here is great, shes an open person just down for adventure and really rather cool. My issue this go around was I was way less charmed by Frey. I remembered a lot of this book. Which is very impressive after 6 years and hundreds of books in between. I remembered two huge points of contention that should have had better resolution between the hero/heroin and then FORGOT that I did not approve of said resolutions. I’m actually a bit angry still and was clearly just swept up in the charm the first go around.

Spoiler
Frey not only locks Finny to his world, but worse fucks up her birth control on the sly. When Finny finds out both of these things she is PISSED and has righteous anger, however all that anger is just dropped when Frey dies. This is likely realistic if the given scenario actually happened. Good for her for not keeping all that anger when Frey dies but DAMN he comes back and she lets it go. I’m not saying it’s unrealistic behavior. I’m just very annoyed Frey got away and never really had consequences or a come up pence.
I have read this book many many times. It is probably my favorite of the series. I never get tired of "wee Finnie" & Frey.
5 beautiful stars.
This was such a uniquely different novel from Ashley. I think her contemporary romances are some of the best I've ever read, but she definitely did a great job with her dip into the land of fantasy. The world she spun was intriguing, as was the magic that was present. I don't think it's true fantasy as it focused much more on the romance than the fantasy elements, but it was still a refreshing twist. I liked Frey, but I loved Finny. Her zest for life is exhilarating to partake in. I just felt HAPPY the entire time I read this, such is the affection one cannot help but feel with Finny. I really really love this one.

ALL THE STARS IN THE UNIVERSE AND PARALLEL UNIVERSES!
You guys should know I have infinite love for Kristen Ashley. I adore her with all my heart. I have read 31 out of 37 (contemporary) books she published. And reread my favourites 10 million times. Including her last published book, Bounty. So, logically--- my nervous system decided to have a sudden KA withdrawal because apparently 31 plus a few million rereads wasn't enough! How cute. Which forced me to finally read her non-contemporaries. And OMG.
BEST DECISION EVER!
She created not only a brilliant world but also an EXTRAORDINARY one. I know some people don't like how descriptive she is with everything but I like it. *cough 31 books cough*
The characters were downright fabulous, major characters and side characters alike. And I am frustratingly in love with Finnie and Frey. I SHIP THEM SO HARD I'M HAVING LEGIT SEIZURES RIGHT NOW.
This book was all kinds of awesome. I can't. I am truly at loss for words.
P.S. I'd love an epilogue where they have two dozen kids and 489 dragons.
P.P.S. I expect to read a series wholly dedicated to Finnie and Frey Drakkar with six thousand installments.

The Golden Dynasty was my first introduction to this fantasyland world, Wildest Dreams my second. I love how each book is so unique. Still some nods to Game of Thrones in this one, but overall its definitely its own story. I absolutely love the main guy. I think each book is great at showing how cultures and backgrounds can cause a lot of strife in relationships, but if love is there, communication can bridge the gaps and stop the madness. Even in the CRAZIEST of situations.
Love love love! FINALLY. After a long drought and many, many meh books, I finally found two people to fall in love with. Finnie and Frey were just wonderful, lovable and hot. This is a nice long book with many twists and turns to keep you turning the pages long into the night.
Bravo! Can't wait to read #2!
