Bad writing.
It's repetitive, lazy, confusing, and long-winded. Sentences are whole paragraphs long and multiple times difficult to understand and awkward. The wording is very simple but from time to time author throws in some obscure adjectives or nouns which I actually had to look up a couple of times. It made me wonder if the author's native language is not English because it was so bad.
What's even worse is the hero. I have no words. It's beyond me how can ANYONE be attracted to such a selfish douche. While reading the book I felt physically suffocated due to his actions. It has never happened to me before and I'm pretty damn sure it's not the vibe the author was going for.
It makes me sad because I was so excited to read this book. I literally squealed when I found out about it. However, the world decided to play a joke on me and gave me a book with love interest so immature he can't help but vent his anger on a woman just because he's attracted to her and he can't deal with the fact she's lesbian. All the while saying he has nothing against lesbians. A round of applause for Freyr, please.

Seriously, that should have been enough of a red flag but I shrugged it off as if it's nothing and kept on reading and it only got worse. Definitely not a redeemable asshole or gentle brute or anything like that. Disgusting.
In all honesty, I was so excited about this book that I was willing to continue because it might get better but then I saw a flood of negative reviews and took in my fair share of spoilers and decided I shouldn't torture myself just because I am too stubborn to waste such a cool idea. If you know, you know...

I absolutely loved this book. The writing was awesome, the story was awesome, the female lead was awesome, the male lead was awesome, the detail was awesome, the supporting characters were awesome- just everything was awesome. This is by far my favorite book that I have read in quite some time. I'm going to read the next book as soon as I'm done with this review. This story was so fresh and exciting. I love fantasy books and i love new adult books and the two got smashed up into a masterpiece with this book. It had me laughing almost every single chapter due to the quick wit it Finnie. I hope the next book is still as good because Finnie is the kind of character that just makes a story come alive. Can't wait to retread this book already! :)
En tiedä yhtään miksi luin tämän. Ja loppuun asti. Tämä oli turhaa turhuutta. Hyvä ajatus, mutta ärsyttävä ja toooodella pitkästyttävä toteutus.

This book is light-hearted, heart warming, and fun. It is great for a casual read or anyone looking for some easy, uplifting escapism.
I enjoyed my time reading this book, though I wouldn’t say there’s anything particularly stand outish. The characters, plot, and world-building were all average, not bad but not amazing.
Easily my biggest complaint is the voice of the MC. The amount of overly repetitive “so cool”, “ho boy”, “awesome” almost drove me up the wall.

I think Golden Dynasty was a bit better, but I liked the world building/set up in this one.
Kristen Ashley is AMAZING!!
I have not read a KA book that I didn't love. The Fantasyland series is no different. You fall in love with the hero, you emphasize with the heroine. You dream in your heart of hearts that you are on this adventure. I believe in magic, fairies, love at first sight, fate, and Destiny. KA makes you believe more is possible, more is out there, and you should grab life by the horns, and ride!!

Discovered a new Kristen Ashley series. Aw - hell yeah! And it's a fantasy romance? Boo yeah! It's gonna be good!

Get introduced to the main characters and I'm even more convinced that this is going to be great. There will be some bad assness in this book! Finnie is kick ass and Frey is also awesome.

Obviously these two need to have a misunderstanding - and they do - and it's kind of fucking hilarious. Then! They realize how idiotic they were being and it gets pretty damn epic. It also gets really sweet with Finnie's parents.

And the way that Frey realizes he's super into her. When she yells at all those people? That was some impressive crap. Made Frey like her even more - but it certainly made me like her even more. Boo yeah girlfriend - you tell people what you think!

That ending! Yep! That was epic. Kept me enthralled to the very end.
Kristen Ashley, you nailed it again. Slam Dunk!

Reread this book this weekend and I still adore it. Sooo good. Blown away.
Seriously, K.A!?!??! I was all set to not totally dig this book (in fact i picked up the first chapter a few times because i knew it would just be ok) because well I don't really dig fantasy. only freaking you could make me LOVE this book. This book brought me to swoon and to tears multiple times.
