Jasper and Linden were amazing, where can i begin with these two, Jasper moved to her aunts house and is not in a good place to start with, all she wants is her toast which i love . I love toast so i can fully connect with her on this, and she gets the attention from Linden the next door neighbor, they meet and some hilarious stuff happens, with Banana bread and biscuits, LOl, this book was so great, the couple really was there for one another, plus steam rating through the roof, all in all loved this books.
medium-paced
This is the first book I’ve read by Kate Canterbary. I was really excited to read it because it sounded really good and I love me an enemies to lovers romance, but this fell just a little short for me. I thought I’d really enjoy it, but overall thought it was ok. It’s touted as a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which is one of my favorite stories, but I never got that impression, other than he’s a grumpy recluse. I didn’t feel their chemistry or end up liking the characters until closer to the middle of the book, but they do end up having some swoony moments (“I don’t hate you”). Linden’s family is great and provides much of the comic relief.
It felt a bit long and repetitive at times. Jasper is a mess and is rightfully so. She’s very independent and likes to do things for herself, for sure, but she really, really needs the help and refuses to take Linden’s help. Linden is determined to do things for her, and I feel like the author had him mansplain just so they’d argue about it and have sex. I like my books steamy, for sure, but I felt like the arguments were had just so the reader had more sex scenes, which is great for some people, just not for me. It didn’t add to the story in any way and felt redundant.
Overall, it was enjoyable. I enjoyed the writing style and would read more from Ms. Canterbary in the future.
3.5 stars. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It was agonizing waiting for Jasper to realize what is right in front of her. Very enjoyable.
