Jasper Anne and Linden first meet when he and his triplet brother, Ash see her crowbar in hand trying to get into the house next door. Such a fun introduction to the book. Jasper Anne has left her life behind after a series of unfortunate events. First, she loses her job on air after revealing an embarrassing tidbit about the candidate she works for. she's also recently single too. Her plan is to lay low as she fixes up the cottage her aunt left her.

Linden's plan is to avoid her at all costs. But Jasper comes over the next morning with banana muffins that are not edible as Linden does his best to not engage with her.

Lumberbears are where it's at. And Linden might just be a new book boyfriend. Jasper Anne drove me a little crazy at first but I enjoyed the push and pull from both of them and I was finally won over. And can we talk about their dirty talk? So good, I needed a fan.

Loved the writing, loved the hero. Their chemistry was spot on and steamy af.

KU read

One of those where you get those moments and ride is flawless.

Breakdown of someone who is driving on adrenaline is something im familiar with. So this is little close to home... But whitty dialogs, sarcastic comebacks, general normal 30+ year olds is what i needed at this moment. And now my TBR grown for ... i don't know. 10 books?

Different and wonderful!

I loved every moment of this book. It was different in that the two main characters love differently than any other characters I’ve ever read about. I don’t want to ruin it for you so suffice it to say that they love who they love.

I think what touched me more about this book is that I find myself in the same place as Jasper. She’s going through a crisis and needs to find a new path for herself. For me, I know I can’t stay where I am forever and it’s scary contemplating a new path. Regardless, I love how patient and kind Linden was with her. He knew she needed patience and space but she also needed to know she was cared for.

I’m not sure how to express this properly, but the writing of this book was different for me. I hate when people use words like “lyrical,” but there was something about the writing that was different and spoke to me. I borrowed this book in Kindle Unlimited, but I’m going to go buy it right now. I want to be able to revisit it over and over again.

I am bailing on this. It very much needs edits. It’s too long, repetitive and it cannot quite decide on tone. It starts like a rom-com, then feels like a semi-dark romance. A friend said it felt like a shifter romance w/out shifters and that seems accurate. Not rating as I only made it 50%, but would not recommend.

I would have preferred there to be a bit more of a friendship buildup before the between the ‘enemies’ and ‘lovers’ phases. Jasper and Linden’s relationship felt like it went from enemies to practically a relationship in the blink of an eye, and the reader is supposed to believe that they don’t like each other because they keep saying ‘I don’t HATE you’, as if it isn’t clear they both have romantic feelings for one another.

Also, for all that Jasper talks about getting into politics because she cared about changing things for the better, we don’t really see that represented in the text. There’s even a perfect opportunity where she mentions the way Midge would constantly get involved in community/town politics, but that never gets expanded upon.

Also I only realised that this book was part of a series AFTER I finished it, so take from that what you will.
