Jasper-Anne Cleary left DC with her tale between her legs and into a one bedroom bungalow in Massachusetts right next door to a grumpy, growly arborist named Linden. The instant hate between the two made these neighbors less neighborly. Jasper was a whirling dervish that was opposite Linden’s quiet, hermit-like existence. But as they get to know each other, there’s less hate and more love. Nexus one prefers the quiet, solitary life, Linden is capable of seeing Jasper’s unhappiness and draws out her deepest, darkest secrets.
Add in a meddling, well-meaning mother, inedible baked goods, a swarm of bats and a cat who comes and goes as he pleases and we get a story so mesmerizingly beautiful that’s it’s difficult to say goodbye to the characters long after the last page was turned. These characters are classic Kate. Their quirky and outspoken, pensive and introspective.

Might be me so I’ll try again later think I’m just not feeling this type of book right now
Over all I really enjoyed this book. Linden and Jasper were perfect for each other. There were many times that I found myself laughing out loud. Especially anytime there was a crock pot in use. There was no unnecessary drama. The only reason this one wasn’t a five star read for me was because of the pace. The middle part of the book seemed to drag a bit for me. Then once I got towards the end it picked right back up. I would still recommend this book!

Complete HEA!!!
Loved the epilogue!!! The complete HEA was fabulous and absolutely perfect.
I enjoyed this story and highly recommend it! I’m tempted to check out the audiobook, I can only imagine how sexy the Linden’s chapters would be read by a deep, sexy voice.
Favorite thing- both MCs had names often associated with the opposite gender AND they talked about loving the person not the parts. Seriously, that is just awesome!!!

The Belle and the Beard by Kate Canterbary was sweet, a little rustic, and super hot! This was a fantastic way to wrap up her Santillian Triplet stories. I loved that we got to visit with Magnolia and Ash as well in this one!
Linden and Jasper had a lot of spunk and tenacity that I adored. I loved how Jasper found herself through meaningful, thought out conversations with Linden. These two characters truly got to know each other's thoughts and needs while falling in love at the same time. The way these two met was super fun! I always love it when the female is independent and doesn't need to rely on anyone and then slowly starts the change her mind. Her tainted and unfortunate past may have played a role in that.
Overall, I loved this book! I loved all of the allusions to Beauty of and the Beast, and not to mention Linden's Lord of the Ring tattoos! I love the whole grown up fairy tale vibe. I look forward to reading more from Kate Canterbary!

There wasn’t anything in particular that made me DNF. I just wasn’t getting into the story.
