This book is not your typical crime novel. There aren't any shocking twists or big breakthroughs. It's just sort of... sad. Oh, the tangled webs we weave... only some webs are more tangled than others. Every character in this book has suffered at the hands of another, and caused suffering for another in turn. Obviously, some crimes are worse than others (like... murder, lol) but I couldn't help but wonder if A didn't happen would B have happened, and so on.  I think anyone who liked "Disappearing Earth" will really enjoy this one.

A great book from different perspectives from women and how they each contributed/played a role in Ansel’s life.

Wasn’t expecting this book to be a look into prisons and the death penalty but it was a good exploration on how it feels to have the death penalty assigned to you and how demeaning it can be.

Also digging into how the death penalty always platforms the killer but never the victims, how their life becomes tainted because of spectacle.
