This was good but had potential to be better.

The Secret Girl is kind of like She's the Man but it's an all boys private school that wants to change it's ways and add girls to it. Ya know - like a normal school. Well, I was all in it for this book because the characters seemed interesting. Pricks and assholes - but interesting.

Now in this, you will meet Charlotte but she goes by Chuck at this school. She doesn't want anyone to treat her differently or know that she's actually a girl in disguise - so she tries her best to be incognito. It works.. for about a week maybe? Okay for real probably a couple of months but the guys she keeps running into have some suspicions.

It doesn't take long for them to notice that she's a girl though. Which I was surprised it took as long as it did. It also sucks that she found out her bestfriend and boyfriend were sleeping around her back before she even left for this school. Predictable af but I felt bad for her.

Besides the romance and secrets coming out into the open, there's a bit of a mystery at this school. For some odd reason, someone doesn't want girls to ever show up here. The first one, many years ago, died on campus - but everything was kind of shoved under the bed. No one ever looked into it and everyone around this school deems it safe. So I have a ton of questions on who is trying to kill and who possibly killed someone else.

Other than that, I don't accept the ending for what it was. I hate cliffhangers and I just can't accept a death. I hope it's like someone fake and not who they think it is. Ugh, I need the next book STAT because I need answers!!

With the exception of that chilli rubbing part (because bitch that hurts like hell? Don't do that shit to people??) the bullying is not half as bad as the bullshit the Havoc boys did. Not a super good reason to do it, but again, still not as stupid as fuck a reason as the Havoc boys'. Charlotte actually did do something that prompted the bullying, unlike Bernadette. Anyways, overall aight. They better apologize though because I still fckng hate bullies.

Not so much a 'bully'

First off, I dislike the bully books coming out. I’m not trying to kink shame, we all enjoy different things and that is just not my style. In the words of one of my favorite Facebook Groups; Your Kink is Not My Kink.

That said - this isn’t one of those, no matter what the blurb says. Thankfully, I listened to recommendation posts and gave this KU darling a shot. These guys? They’re not bullies. They are retaliatory... and with good reason. Charolette, Chuck, comes in to an all boys school and hides her gender, because, yeah.... wouldn’t you? But she’s kind of a jerk, to everyone. She just wants to be left alone, but she goes about it the wrong way and abuses any goodwill the students might have felt for her.

So, as guys do - they strike back.... but not hard. The worst she gets is a swirly and threatened with a justifiable beatdown.... which still didn’t happen.

All in all, it’s tense but far from cruel. Reactions are age appropriate and the mystery building in the background soon sweeps the entire group up in its net, overriding most, if not all of the bullying the blurb alludes to.

Whether Bully Romance or YA settings are for you, this one is worth taking a chance on. Well written and uniquely captivating, this is C.M. Stunich at her best. Free on Kindle Unlimited!

Pros:

~ Well written.

~ Age appropriate, but still not overly immature. This is a books YA and Adult readers can enjoy.

~ Good mystery.

~ Spencer!!! He thinks he may be gay or bisexual and JUST GOES WITH IT! He’s confused and       questioning his sexuality, but he's willing to figure it out - without attacking the target of his         affection. Society, take note... THIS is how you react to an unexpected physical                       attraction.

Cons:

~ I may understand her, but Chuck baby.... chill.

Favorite Line

I'm so into these reverse harem reads right now, it's ridiculous. It's practically an addiction. Ugh, don’t even get me started on how much I love The Royal Trials series by Tate James. (19%)

First Person, Single POV

Ending Type

Cliffhanger

Rating

PG-13.... for NOW. Sounds like it should edge to R for the upper YA genre.

Romantic Dynamic

I don't really know yet, LOL! At least MMMF, but it may be MMMMMF.... and I might have forgotten one.

Holy crap!!!

This is the beginning of a reverse harem, slow burn, bully romance series! They are not standalones.

Now that that’s out of the way.... HOLY SH*T!! Girl can write a suspense novel that’s for sure!!! I felt like I was sitting on pins and needles trying to hurry up and read to find out what happened next. This is a bully romance, but our female lead is pretending to be a boy, and honestly she brings almost all of the bullying on herself lol she’s so worried the boys are going to find out her secret that she’s a b*tch to everyone, sooo she kind of deserved some of it. Not only is this a bully romance (nothing crazy in the bullying department btw) but there is also a murder mystery going on, with the same murderers back 10 years later, now after Charlotte. IT IS SO GOOD. I cannot wait to find out what happens next. I’m not even lying, I haven’t been this excited about a book in a while. As a matter of fact, it’s now 4am and I have to be up at 7am for work, I literally couldn’t stop reading.

It was so hilarious watching one of the guys, who is straight, start thinking he’s bisexual or gay because of the connection he feels to “Chuck”. All I can say is he’s my fave so far, so I’m gonna be pissed if something happens to him.

YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK! No, I didn’t receive an ARC for this book, I don’t know the author personally. I just enjoyed this book THAT much that I’m telling you, you need it and I’m sad I waited so long to get to it myself!!
