Instant Heat is a cute little story about Rae and Griffin. This book is told from dual points of view. Rae was out with her friends when they made a bet that she couldn't have a one night stand with a random stranger. She hooks up with Griffin and it was an instant connection.

Griffin just moved to town for a new job at the fire department. It turns out Rae's brother works at the same fire station, and her brother does not like Griffin from the start. Griffin is recovering from an accident that separated him from his best friend/firefighter brother, and he's having a rough time with it. He blames himself.

Can Griffin save Rae when she needs saving? Will he realize it wasn't his fault what happened to his friend? Will their relationship work with her brother? I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait for more in the series.

Instant Heat will instantly hook you and heat you up.

Raelyn and her friends make a bet that Rae can take home the new hot guy at the bar and have one night of fun. Griffin is the new LT at the fire station and when he is offered a night to blow off steam with a beautiful woman, he does not turn it down. Griffin and Raelyn feel an intense connection with each other and want to be more than just a fling but their only problem is her brother despises him.

Griffin and Raelyn's story is an instant heat, whirlwind of a romance that had me hooked right from the beginning. The chemistry between Griffin and Rae was off the charts and I loved the side characters and look forward to their stories. This was my first A.K. MacBride book and will not be my last.

Audio: Gregory Salinas and Lessa Lamb did a great job of bringing the characters and story to life. Gregory's Irish accent was so hot and swoony.

This was my first book from this author and I loved it!

I was hooked from the very beginning and listening to it on audio was so much better!

I loved the heat level and couldn’t get enough of these characters!

I definitely recommend!

"Instant Heat" is the kind of story that grabs you by the hand and never lets you go until the end. It's a quick read, but don't let that fool you! A lot happens in these four hours! The narrators, Gregory and Lessa, are new to me, but my goodness, that accent! WOW! They added another dimension to the story, and I'm so excited for the next installment.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a good job. This was a quick, enjoyable low angst listen. I plan to read/listen to the next book in the series.

This was a nice short & spicy story, with heat and depth! Who doesn’t love a man in uniform and an accent!

Rae is out with her friends (omg they are the best). A bet sends Rae on the hunt for a man. From the moment Rae & Griff meet they have crazy hot chemistry & it’s not a one off. They fall fast & hard in love and nothing can come between them. #audiobookobsession #flock #audiobookobsessionreview

My first by MacBride …
This book starts out unoriginally, with girls in a bar, ganging up on /daring one to take home a random guy. I think we’ve all read/watched things with this very same beginning.

Book is 1st person POV, alternating between the FMC and MMC.
At times, we got the same scene twice, once in each POV; I could’ve done without this but I imagine many readers appreciate having the insight into both characters’ heads. (On the plus side, I was able to skip some of the chapters in the high-pitched female narrator’s voice & still know what was going on! Score!!)

This is an insta-love, extra stress on the ‘insta’, fast-burn, but I found the sex scenes to be a bit bland.

There’s a lot more inner dialogue than actual-dialogue, so for me it was rather slow-paced.

I tried to get into it but this was a DNF for me. Not bad at all—just not my cup of tea.

Note:
I listened to the audiobook. The female narrator’s voice is extremely high-pitched and the narrator has a very slow way of speaking. On the plus side, she’s nice and easy to understand. But if you’re subject to pain from sharp sounds, I recommend opting for the e- or print book. ;)
The male narrator has a deep, smooth voice and a hot accent, very pleasant.
