House of Earth and Blood is a stunning urban fantasy with great emotional depth and a heart-pounding mystery. The author builds a detailed world in Crescent City; it feels alive with magic, danger, and intrigue! The characters are well written and have such detailed growth within the book. Bryce Quinlan- The FMC; the heroine, she's strong and flawed but yet so deeply human. And her journey through her grief, love, and self-discovery had me hooked on her character from the first page. The dynamic she has with the MMC- Hunt Athalar is electric. Filled with tension, heart, and just the right amount of slow burn

What truly sets this book apart from other urban fantasies is the emotional impact. Beneath all the action, mythology, and twists, it's a story of loyalty, friendship, and healing. Sarah J. Maas delivered everything with this book; the breathtaking worldbuilding, complex characters, hilarious laugh-out-loud moments, and twists that leave you shocked.

If this book wasn't so painfully long, I would have given it 5 stars.

This is what I have to say about the page count:

Honestly it took me so long to just reach the big event at the beginning of the book. All of the stuff that happened before it, was just so damn boring. I had no interest in anything. But after shit went down, then I picked up more interest in the book and was able to pull my attention together long enough to finish the book.

Overall it was good. I cried like a baby at the end. But getting there was really hard. So many parts of the story just didn't really matter overall.

Also after this first major event of the story, all the other twists and turns I saw coming. Almost nothing else in the book surprised me after that. Sadly all the other major events became pretty predictable.

Yes this book has it's issues. More so that just the long winded pages. Other reviews voice those issues pretty well so I am not going to jump into them here. I liked the book. I might re-read it one day. Maybe. But I will happily continue on to the next book and eagerly wait the release of the last.

a wild ride but the ending popped off
adventurous challenging dark emotional funny mysterious sad tense

Loved the story such a damn tease though because for real! Deeply flawed characters who choose redemption. I’m excited to see where this goes and who the father is.
